We have resources for anyone aged 14 and older. If you would like to take advantage of these fantastic free resources, visit our website www.pgcajc.com or in person at 6800 Oxon Hill Road, Suite 298, National Harbor, MD 20745, to learn more today.

Employ Prince George's is a
MACo 2021 County Innovation Award Winner
The Honorable Ingrid Turner, Prince George’s County Circuit Court Associate Judge, MACo Past President, and former Prince George’s County Council Member instituted this award during her term as MACo President in 2012. The award is now a collaboration of the Academy for Excellence in Local Governance and MACo, with support from the Local Government Insurance Trust.

The County Innovation Award is issued to an urban county and a rural county each year. All nominees were impressive, addressing issues in their communities and serving the needs of residents in ways that were truly “outside the box.”

Employ Prince George's proudly accepts this award in honor of our innovative COVID-19 programming. Employ Prince George’s launched the COVID-19 Workforce Development Recovery Program in April of 2020 to assist businesses with decreased revenues and residents that had been laid off due to Covid-19. With local Prince George’s County Government funds, municipal grants, foundation/business grants, and state grants, the COVID-19 Workforce Development Recovery Program raised over $1.5 million in FY20 and FY21. With these funds, the COVID-19 Workforce Development Recovery Program distributed $200 and $300 visa cash cards to 5,677 Prince George’s County residents (totaling $709,300 in aid), provided $548,336 in grants to 29 businesses, and helped train and place into employment over 150 residents.

Employee Spotlight
For this month's employee highlight, we would like to spotlight EPG's very own Director, Community Development, Jamie Gunnell. In her role, Jamie works in multiple capacities. She serves as the Board administrator for the Prince George's County Local Workforce Development Board and EPG's Press Information Officer.

Jamie leads a dedicated team of individuals whose primary goal is to increase brand awareness, visibility and to expand our community development efforts for Employ Prince George's and the Prince George's County Workforce System. Aside from furthering the EPG brand, Jamie works diligently to create new and innovative processes to achieve our company's vision, bridging the gap between job seekers and businesses.

Recently, Jamie Gunnell served as the project manager working with architects, engineers, general contractors, plumbers, and inspectors to build the newly opened American Job Center National Harbor. During the global pandemic, Jamie led the efforts in creating this job center, while leading her team in distributing over $700,000 to families in need through the EPG's Prince George's County Hourly Employee Relief Fund and spreading the word about EPG's Rapid Re-Employment Initiative, both housed under the COVID-19 Workforce Development Recovery Program.

Thank you, Jamie, for your hard work, dedication, and leadership! You are a treasured member of our team.

8 Things No Recruiter Ever Wants to See on Your Resume
Your resume is essential to helping you get a job – you’re unlikely to get far without it. As a record of your achievement, it (ideally) lays out for an employer exactly what you have done and therefore that you can do the job for which you’re applying.

Sounds simple enough, but occasionally people slip up when they think about their resume as a reflection of who they are. At times, as any hiring manager will tell you, there’s definitely a tendency for some people to overshare and, it seems, to put down anything that enters their mind when they happen to be putting together this document.

Where the professional and the strictly personal overlap, let’s take a look at what you should leave out to avoid a CV TMI!
