Dear Friends,

We begin the season of Lent today. Won't you join us on this journey of reflection and repentance as we move ever closer to the cross of Christ? Our emphasis during the next few weeks will be on the Prodigal Son — one of the parables of Jesus from which we can learn much for our walk today.

We have much to share with you about the life of our church this week, so let's get down to business. Don't forget to let us know how we can pray for you.
On Sunday, February 27, 2022, our church voted to call Seth Brown as Minister of Students and Community Engagement and Ron Murray as Minister of Pastoral Care by an overwhelming majority. The search committee felt confident that God led them to these two candidates, and we are excited about their forthcoming ministry here at FBC Griffin.
Lent Devotional and Children's Kit
Today is Ash Wednesday — the first day of Lent. During services last Sunday, we made our family devotional called Holy Breath available. Tonight, during our Wednesday night activities, families with children are encouraged to pick up one Lent Devotional Children's Kit (for the family) that includes blocks aligned with the devotional material. The kit may be picked up in Morgan Hall during the supper hour or in the child's Bible study room.
This Sunday
Our church was founded on March 7, 1841. We will observe Founders' Day on Sunday, March 6. During services, we will recognize those individuals who have been members for 50 years. We will also participate in the Lord's Supper together. Remember that our tradition on Communion days is to accept an offering for our Benevolence Ministry, which serves the most vulnerable in our local area. Following services, we will give each family a copy of A Community of Grace, a new book by Senior Pastor, Steven Norris. In addition to this book, we will give you a list of resources you and your family can use to explore our theme for the year: Inspire.
Adult Ministry Activities
Are you looking for a way to limber up? How about learning how to take a good, cleansing deep breath? These are exactly the things you can achieve with Sam Fox leading you through yoga. Why not sign up today to join us on March 19th at 9:00 a.m. in the Hardee Hospitality Room? Space is limited to 15 people and the cost is $10 per person. Click on the Register button to sign up.

Missions Update
North American Mission Emphasis

March is the month in which we focus on mission work that is being done in North America. We support the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship (CBF) Global Mission offering and the Annie Armstrong Easter offering for North American Missions.

Money given to the CBF offering goes to support missionaries on the field and allows them to concentrate on their work.

One couple with a special connection to FBC Griffin is Anna and LaCount Anderson. They work in Eastern North Carolina. Their main focus is to help those in poverty through various assistance programs. Their emphasis is to help them move out of poverty. The major needs include food insecurity and a lack of decent housing.

Our church has partnered with them through a mission trip, assistance with food distribution, and financial assistance with housing. They are part of the TOGETHER FOR HOPE initiative.

Fractured by Sin
by Steven Norris
This week, many in the global church are beginning the journey of Lent, the period of 40 days leading up to Easter. It echoes the 40 days of Jesus’ temptation, the 40 days of rain experienced by Noah and his family, the 40 days that Moses met with God on Mt. Sinai, and the 40 years that the Israelites wandered in the wilderness...

Floral Arrangements
The flowers in the Sanctuary and Morgan Hall are given to the glory of God and in loving memory of the Presbyters who constituted this church
March 7, 1841.

If you wish to place flowers in the Sanctuary or Morgan Hall in honor or memory of a loved one, then please call Brenda Goolsby (cell: 770-468-3959).
Easter Flowers
On Easter Sunday there will be arrangements of lilies in the sanctuary, the narthex, and Morgan Hall. If you would like to honor a loved one by contributing toward these flowers, please put your gift of $12.00 (per listing) and the name of the person whom you are remembering or honoring in the offering plate or take it to the church office by April 3, 2022.
