This 5-week virtual class is free and open to the public. You can still register to join. Participants in the ENJOY! Program will receive one-on-one assistance (senior geek squad), support to purchase equipment and prizes. REGISTER https://bit.ly/ENJOYRegistration.
Tending Our Soil - participate in the on-line survey to help our congregation grow in greater vitality. Click here, enter survey code 2556512917.
All Souls Day will be celebrated Sunday November 7th. If you would like the name of someone who died between November 1, 2020 and now, included in the bulletin, please email the office with the name of the deceased and date of death.
The Afghan Refugee Committee met to discuss how we want to help the many refugees fleeing to our country. The EDOW newsletter has some updates every week, and will have more as time goes on. Prayers are welcomed, as is advocacy. If you would like to help contact Deacon Kathryn or Shaun Hardy.
AIM (Action in Montgomery): This is a coalition of over 30 multi-faith institutions, public schools and advocacy groups across Montgomery County working with civic organizers who have experience and success in helping communities in other parts of the country. Good Shepherd has begun a partnership with Ascension Church (for now we are tagging on to their membership in AIM). Thanks to Deacon Kathryn for shepherding this effort. 'Listening Campaigns' are starting by zoom and the goal is to 'listen' to 3,000 Montgomery County residents concerning issues such as affordable housing, health and mental health and elder care, as well as educational inequities. If you have any questions, please contact Kathryn, Debbie Beebe, or Ray Battistelli. In the words of John Lewis, let’s make “Good Trouble” in our County and State!!

Grocery Shopping for Our Food Collection Outreach (1st and 3rd Saturdays, next date November 6) All nutritious staples are happily received. Here are some healthy items to consider:
- Tuna, Salmon, or Chicken, in water
- Dry or canned beans (low sodium, if possible)
- Natural nut butters
- Brown rice (16 oz)
- Whole grain pasta
- Pasta sauce in plastic jars
- Canned vegetables (low sodium, if possible)
- Canned fruit (in juice)
- Fruit cups
- Shelf-stable milk in individual milk boxes
- Cooking oils and spices
(Those of us who deliver have noticed that large boxes of dry cereal are easily squished when piled up and not the best choice.)
Another Way to Help Provide Food for Our Neighbors - Saint Luke Lutheran Church has switched its food outreach from the food pantry to which we contributed for years to the distribution of Giant Grocery cards. (Giant is their grocery store of choice for these cards.) A special benefit of the grocery store cards is that they offer individuals and families the opportunity to purchase fresh produce as well as staples. If this way of addressing food insecurity appeals to you, there are two ways to contribute to Saint Luke:
1. Go online to Saint Luke Lutheran Church, Silver Spring, MD. Click on Giving. Then click on Online Giving. Fill in the amount you wish to contribute next to COVID-19 Hunger Relief and follow the instructions from there.
2. Don't like online giving? Method #2 is your other option. Write a check for the amount you wish to contribute. Write COVID-19 Hunger Relief on the memo line. Mail your check to Saint Luke Lutheran Church, 9100 Colesville Rd., Silver Spring, MD 201910
Shepherd's Table -Volunteer opportunities include serving breakfast, lunch and dinner at Progress Place as well as handing out prepared meals for families at Parkland Middle School and Riverdale Elementary School through the Beyond the Table program (sign up times on the service hub: https://shepherdstable.volunteerhub.com. Since COVID, we have not been organizing as a group out of safety precautions. However, Shepherd's Table follows all safety measures and County restrictions. Shepherd's Table is still not accepting clothes donations BUT they have partnered with New4YouThrift Store in Bethesda (4909 Cordell Avenue; www.New4youthrift.org) and you can donate clothes there or donate through the Wish List link. Monetary donations to Shepherd's Table are also welcome and can be made via the Hunger Globe by check noting "Hunger Globe" in the memo line, mailing your check to the church or placing it in the collection tray. Thank you!
