Join us for Heritage Night &
The Ice Cream Social
May 26th, 5:30PM-7:30PM
We're excited to host a combined Heritage Night and Ice Cream Social on Thursday, May 26th. The event starts at 5:30PM at Rockwell Elementary.
Heritage Night has been a long standing tradition for the Rockwell PTA. It's a special night where families come together and learn about countries around the world, and where students and families can celebrate the richly diverse heritages of our school community. This year we have more than 18 booths. Kids will receive a "passport" when they arrive and can get stamps from countries all around the world as they visit various booths. Everyone who finishes their passport will receive a special prize.
At 7PM, families will also get to see some special dances and performances from families willing to share their cultural traditions with the school community. Also, all kiddos will get to enjoy an ice cream treat, compliments of the PTA.

Did you forget to order a yearbook?
No worries - we understand! It's been a busy year and sometimes time just gets away from us. That's why your PTA ordered extra copies!
When the yearbooks are delivered, we'll contact you about pickup & payment. Softcover Yearbooks are $25.

Rockwell 2022 Volunteer Tea
"Thank You for Helping Us Bloom!"
Friday, June 3, 8:50 AM - 10:00 AM, Gym Undercover Area
You are cordially invited to Rockwell's 2022 Volunteer Tea! We have such amazing parent/family volunteers, and it's time to recognize you for your outstanding contributions to our school! This year's tea will take place at 8:50 AM on the morning of Friday, June 3rd, at our gym undercover area. We'll begin the day with tea, pastries, and conversation, then transition into a special surprise (my only hint: please make sure you have good walking shows on for a lap around the school!). We have several thank-you's in store from the students and staff, and we'll end the event with awards from the PTA.
Please be sure to join us on the morning of the 3rd - all who have volunteered are welcome. See you then!

Field Day, June 8th
For the first time since 2019, we're able to host field day! This is a Rockwell tradition, and something the kids look forward to every year.
This year it will take place from 9AM - 11AM.
We need at least 40 parent volunteers to help make the event a success. We'll have dozens of different games and outdoor stations set-up for the entire student population.
We'll need volunteers willing to help at each station, as well as volunteers willing to come in starting at 8AM that morning to fill water balloons and help set-up.
If you're interested in volunteering, please sign up HERE

End of Year Plans in the Library!
Hello Beagle Families, it is hard to believe that we are nearing the end of the school year! There is so much we still want to do but also need to prepare for the summer.
Here are some important upcoming dates related to the library:
May 26th, 2022 - Last day for checking out books
June 10th, 2022 - ALL Library books are due back
These dates are put in place to allow for books to be returned, shelved, inventoried and readied for the summer cleaning in the schools. If books are not returned by the last day of school, families will continue to receive notifications over the summer. Be advised that all students will continue to attend library classes after checkout ends for the year. In the coming days you may receive communications if your child has overdue books to help ensure they are returned.
Thanks for your help and support!

Board Members for Next Year's PTA
Still looking for board members for next year's PTA! Elections for next year's PTA board are happening at our final general membership of the year on June 9th at 7:00PM (at the Rockwell Library). We still have several board positions and committee positions that are vacant. We are especially interested in finding someone to fill the VP of Fundraising and VP of Academic Enrichment roles.
NO experience is required. The only thing you need is a willingness to help make the Rockwell community as strong, diverse, and supportive for all students as possible. Please email Mansi at schoolservices@rockwellpta.org if you would like to add your name to the list for any board or committee chair positions next year. Below is a list of committee positions we are hoping to fill for next tear.
- Reflections Chair (this person helps organize the Reflections art contest that happen in October every year)
- Welcome Back Coffee chair (this person helps to organize the welcome back coffee that happens in September)
- STEAM night chair (this person helps to organize STEAM night, which generally takes place in January)
- Math Challenge co-chair (these volunteers help to coordinate the year-long math challenge program that keeps all of our young leaners excited about Math!)

5th Grade Graduation Party Volunteers Needed!
We need volunteers to help with the "5th grade promotion" plans. Our current 5th graders will soon graduate from Rockwell Elementary Beagles to Redmond Middle school Grizzlies.
Covid put a profound strain on their elementary school experience. We need help as we plan a special graduation celebration for them. We need at least 3-4 volunteer parents (typically these are 4th grade parents, but we welcome anyone who is interested in helping to make this year's celebration). We'll need help as we plan the event, and then some logistical help on June 17th as we say goodbye to our 5th graders at a special ceremony that starts at 9AM.

Now is your chance to participate in the selection of our award recipients by nominating candidates for consideration by our awards committee. Please consider nominating anyone that has helped the staff, students, or the Rockwell community at large. There are many people that deserve this award so let's give them a chance to be recognized!
