Dear Huguenot Academy Families and Community:
This Monday, Huguenot Academy started in-person classes at the Boys & Girls Club of New Rochelle, behind Columbus Elementary School. Students began the third marking period with a clean slate, with some of our students starting new courses like Mystery and the Sociology of Horror in Film.
Thank you to our school district crews who worked diligently for weeks to prepare the building to house our students. City School District of New Rochelle Director of Facilities Keith Watkins said, “We cleaned everything and put down some new coats of floor finish. The Boys & Girls Club folks were very appreciative of the work, and I think it’s something that will help be a great foundation for our relationship with them.”
This Friday, Huguenot Academy took a trip to Chelsea Piers in Stamford, where students were able to attain Physical Education minutes via rock climbing, batting cages, trampolines, gymnastics, court sports, and field sports.
Monroe College has reached an agreement with contractors and is moving ahead with purchase orders for the work that is scheduled to be done. The college will serve as a long-term home for Huguenot Academy once the building is ready. As a reminder, please visit our website, nred.org, for updates and more information.
The City School District of New Rochelle and Huguenot Academy extend deep appreciation to the Boys & Girls Club of New Rochelle for its dedication to our students’ achievement, and for accommodating our learning program. We also sincerely thank the New Rochelle Public Library, which generously provided learning space for our students over the past few months.
In addition, we thank you for your continued partnership.
Sincerely,
Dr. Dagoberto Artiles
