Josh Simpson: 50 Years of Glass at Salmon Falls Gallery

Salmon Falls Gallery presents Josh Simpson: 50 Years of Glass. In this exhibit, Josh Simpson looks back on his half-century of work in glass, displaying pieces that cover the breadth of what he can create. Notably, large, mesmerizing glass globes catch the eye. Also displayed are photos and video that show his process and technique. The gallery is open every day, 11 a.m.  5 p.m. Salmon Falls Gallery is located at 1 Ashfield St., Shelburne Falls, MA. Veteran Stories at The University of Rhode Island

The University of Rhode Island presents Veteran Stories at the URI Providence Campus. This group exhibit showcases the work of 22 artists who were tasked with creating artwork that represents the programs that "help deal with deployment and returning and rebuilding personal lives," for veterans and their families. Above is the work of one exhibitor, Paul Bouchard, whose mixed-media work is "influenced by working through his PTSD from the Vietnam war," according to artist statement. There is a gallery night reception on Thursday, Nov. 17 from 5 to 9 p.m. The gallery is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday through Thursday, and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday. The University of Rhode Island Providence Campus is located at 80 Washington Street, Providence, RI. Tradition Interrupted at Lamont Gallery

Lamont Gallery presents Tradition Interrupted, which showcases the work of Anila Quayyum Agha, Faig Ahmed, Camille Eskell, Mounir Fatmi, Ana Gómez, Shirin Hosseinvand, Dinh Q. Lê, Steven Young Lee, Jaydan Moore, Ramekon O’Arwisters and Jason Seife. Each artist in this exhibition was tasked to "weave contemporary ideas with traditional art and craft." They bring the experiences and histories of their cultures and marry them to many different mediums that complement each other well. Hello, neighbor; it’s been a while. Do you fondly remember strolling leisurely through studios on a crisp fall weekend to take in the wonderful array of talent open studios has to offer? .... We do too.


On December 3 & 4, after a long four-year hiatus, Vernon Street Studios will open their doors to host their Fall/Winter open studios.


While art creation can be a solo practice, art is best appreciated when celebrated with others and the artists of 6 & 20 Vernon Street are thrilled to welcome the public into their workspaces once again.
