Sermon Text: Psalm 126
Sermon Title: "Restoration"
1When the Lord restored the fortunes of Zion,
    we were like those who dream.
2 Then our mouth was filled with laughter,
    and our tongue with shouts of joy;
then it was said among the nations,
    “The Lord has done great things for them.”
The Lord has done great things for us,
    and we rejoiced.
Restore our fortunes, O Lord,
    like the watercourses in the Negeb.
5 May those who sow in tears
    reap with shouts of joy.
6 Those who go out weeping,
    bearing the seed for sowing,
shall come home with shouts of joy,
    carrying their sheaves.

Praise & Worship

Prelude: “All Are Welcome” by Charles Lenz

Opening Hymn: “There’s Something About That Name” #115

Jesus, Jesus, Jesus; there's just something about that name.
Master, Savior, Jesus, like the fragrance after the rain;

Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, let all Heaven and earth proclaim
Kings and kingdoms will all pass away,
But there's something about that name.

Kings and kingdoms will all pass away,
But there's something about that name.

Special Music: "Draw Me Nearer"

Closing Hymn: “We Have Heard a Joyful Sound” #479 vs. 1-3

1 We have heard a joyful sound,
Jesus saves, Jesus saves;
spread the gladness all around,
Jesus saves, Jesus saves;
bear the news to ev'ry land,
climb the steeps and cross the waves,
onward, ’tis our Lord’s command,
Jesus saves, Jesus saves.

2 Waft it on the rolling tide,
Jesus saves, Jesus saves;
tell to sinners, far and wide,
Jesus saves, Jesus saves;
sing, ye islands of the sea,
echo back, ye ocean caves,
earth shall keep the jubilee,
Jesus saves, Jesus saves.

3 Sing above the battle strife,
Jesus saves, Jesus saves;
by his death and endless life,
Jesus saves, Jesus saves;
sing it softly through the gloom,
when the heart for mercy craves,
sing in triumph o’er the tomb,
Jesus saves, Jesus saves.

The shelter has a year-round
list of needs that are always appreciated!

They're especially short on men's deodorant, toothbrushes, toothpaste, razors & socks. Food items: canned meats, #10-size canned fruits/vegetables & applesauce.

Please sit your donations under the shelter, next to FCC's parking lot,
at the set of double doors with a mailbox.

Proverbs 31:8-9
Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves,
for the rights of all who are destitute.
Speak up and judge fairly;
defend the rights of the poor and needy.

Christian Action Ministry

Hello Fellow Christians!

Good afternoon, First Christian! Today is a beautiful day! I have just walked back into our house from standing in the warm sunshine for a few minutes. It is the second full day of Fall and I still have Lantana blooming along with geraniums! In my kitchen, I have all the ingredients to make Ron his “one real meal of the week” that I promised him at Christmas one year. However, there are so many people, who live right her in Forsyth County, who cannot say that. One of the most important things today for me “to be happy about” is the fact I have everything I need in my kitchen to make that “real meal”.
Putting a meal together is not difficult, but for some, it is very difficult. Cupboards are bare all across our area and folks are hungry. The item Crisis Control Ministry has chosen for the month of October is APPLESAUCE. This item can be eaten alone as a needed fruit. It can be used in baked goods and so many other things. Small containers can be included in “take-along” lunches for children and adults. Why not visit your favorite grocer and gather containers of APPLESAUCE you would like to give to those folks who might not have “all the ingredients”! You will be blessed many times over.

CCM does request no glass jars for the APPLESAUCE. Glass tends to break.
