"With the participation of 12 faculty across the College, the 2021-24 PHIL aims to stimulate campus-wide interest in critical medical humanities, which relies on interdisciplinary analytical tools to interrogate the power structures that have defined medical practices and to reveal the socially constructed, intersectional, and embodied experiences of health and illness. Among its principal activities will be sharing faculty research through the Medical Humanities Colloquium, collaborating with leading scholars around the world, organizing publications, and hosting conferences and other public events."

NLM Announces 2022 History Talks

The National Library of Medicine (NLM) recently announced its 2022 History Talks. All talks are free, live-streamed globally, and archived by NIH VideoCasting.
These history discussions are great opportunities for scholars and students focusing in areas on the history of medicine, sociology, and related fields.

via University of Nebraska Medical Center
The Gold Humanism Honor Society in the UNMC College of Medicine is creating a medical humanities-themed magazine, the Art of Medicine. The magazine will serve as a place for health care workers to showcase art in the form of writing, artwork and photography.
Submissions of fiction, non-fiction, poems, sketches, cartoons, photography and drawings are being accepted from all UNMC faculty, staff and students. Email submissions to the Art of Medicine by Feb. 1.

Read about the more than 60,000 pages in more than 1,000 Penn medical student dissertations from the early 1800s that have been digitized over the past two years. The dissertations are available to the public free of charge through the Libraries online catalogue.
