Dear Parents and Guardians,

We appreciate everyone's efforts for a relatively smooth start to the second semester, and it is great to see our students again. We are doing everything we can to keep our community as safe as possible, and ask that you again review the following.

  • If students have symptoms, PLEASE HAVE THEM STAY HOME until they have taken COVID tests and no longer have symptoms.

  • We encourage all members of our community to get vaccinated and obtain booster shots when able.

  • Wearing a mask is absolutely essential when on campus. Please consider upgrading your masks to the highest quality, and have your student bring an extra to school.

  • This week we did have students go home sick and test positive with COVID. If your student has been deemed a close contact you will be notified by the school.

  • We have postponed R time and made another adjustment to tomorrow's schedule (see below).

Sincerely,

Riordan Administration

Website Update: Our website host and provider, Finalsite, is currently experiencing an intermittent outage which is impacting thousands of schools worldwide. We expect this to be resolved soon and thank you for your patience. Please see the contacts at the bottom of this email for the best way to get in touch with the school. Our main phone line is open, and you can also contact info@riordanhs.org.
Semester 1 Grades Update

Official Semester 1 grades will be posted on PowerSchool after 3:00 pm on Friday, January 7. No paper report cards will be sent home. If a student receives a "D" or "I" in any course, they should contact their class counselor for summer repair options. We require students to repair all "I" grades, and highly encourage them to repair all "D" grades.

If a student wants to appeal a grade because they believe a mistake has been made or because they want to explain an extenuating circumstance that occurred in their life during Semester 1 that may have caused their low grade and therefore request additional time to improve their grade, they should contact their class counselor for a grade appeal form.
Back to School Night

Riordan will host an asynchronous Back to School Night on Tuesday, January 11. You can watch videos from your student's second semester teachers through Schoology, Riordan's learning management platform where teachers post class information.

If you don't yet have a parent Schoology account, please watch this quick video about how to sign up.

A Big Thank You to Coach Modeste

After three years as Riordan’s head football coach (2019-2021), Mark Modeste will be moving on from that position but will remain Riordan’s Director of Security. The Athletic Department and the Administration would like to thank Coach Modeste for his service to the football program and to the Archbishop Riordan community. He leaves the program in a better place than it was when he arrived.
Campus Ministry: KAIROS #104 Is Coming
Our upcoming Senior Winter Kairos is approaching fast and we still have a few spots open for this retreat. The Spring Kairos has many spots left and is the last opportunity for seniors to experience one of Archbishop Riordan's greatest traditions.

Student Handbook Reminder

Midsemester is a great time to review the Student Parent Handbook. We've also added a new policy about bathroom passes during class time. Below is the most recent update to our Student Parent Handbook regarding expectations of students when using the bathroom during class.

Bathroom Pass Policy
Students are encouraged to use the restroom before school, during munch, during lunch, during transition times, and after school. For campus safety and security purposes, students who need to use the bathroom during class time must get teacher approval and they must sign in and out of the classroom. Students must also take the bathroom pass with them. Upon returning to class they must sign back in and return the pass. Hand sanitizer and sanitizing wipes are available to students throughout the campus and in the classrooms.
