you have the words of everlasting life.”

Mass Readings for Today

From the President's Desk

Dear Savio Family,

Being busy is a good thing, and a not so good thing. Depends on what is consuming your time, attention, or energy and what level of choice or ownership you had with deciding your role with it.

Some things are pre-planned and scheduled like weekly meetings, workouts, errands, and attending Mass at your parish (the pastors appreciate when I put in a plug for this obligation). All of these activities and many others are part of our set course, our choice, and our priorities.

Then there are "God's Plan" moments such as illnesses, accidents, last-minute meetings, home and car needs, and other needs that just pop up. These are the ones we have to attend to but were not in our scheduled "busy" list.

No matter what fills our calendar or our minds and hearts, we need to remember that God walks with us every step of the way. Not just during Lent, or retreat, or moment of crisis. Every breath, every step, every moment He is with us. We can rely on that, even if we do not feel His presence or hear his voice during those times.

Let us all remember that we are apostles and we can also provide help to others during their unplanned moments. Sometimes it is simple, like refraining from spreading gossip, or offering a listening ear and heart, or giving a "just because" note or message of love and encouragement.

May this last stretch of the Lenten journey, with all the "busyness" of Holy Week and Easter Sunday, be filled with awareness that you are not alone, you are loved, and you can be a part of God's plan to let others know that too.

Take care and God bless.

Principal's Message

Dear Savio Family,

As I write this letter I am sitting in a Diocesan Prinicpal’s meeting on evangelizing catechesis and missionary discipleship. It is really good information and I should be paying more attention but I have a deadline to keep so I’ll do my best to keep this short and to the point.

As we approach Holy Week and the celebration of Easter, it is good for us to remember our call to be missionary disciples. To be a missionary disciple doesn’t mean we have to be actual missionaries who travel to far off lands trying to share the Gospel with those who do not know Jesus. To be a missionary disciple means our faith should always be one that sends us out. Our faith is not something that should be lived in private. It is a faith that should be shared with others. The first disciples after encountering the risen Lord on Easter immediately went to share the good news with others.

This Holy Week as we walk along the road with Jesus to Calvary and then encounter the risen Lord on Easter Sunday, let us remember this call and be people who share the good news of our faith with others.

Thank you and God Bless,

Evan

Imago Christi Day

Our annual Imago Christi Day is tomorrow, Thursday, April 10, 2025. This is an essential day of service in our work to form Catholic servant leaders at St. Dominic Savio and so it is a required day of attendance. Christian Outreach has worked hard to plan the day! We will travel with our school Families to 16 organizations throughout our local community to learn and to offer a helping hand. The faculty and staff of Savio will accompany the students, along with a number of parent volunteers. If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to Mrs. Heyl or Mr. Gamboa!

Volunteer Opportunity During Lenten Season

In addition to Wednesdays' School Mass, students have the opportunity to attend mass in the school chapel on Thursdays during Lent (except Holy Thursday).  SPA would like to provide light refreshments for the early risers after each mass. Please sign up below, label your item "Thursday Lenten Mass" and drop off in the front office Wednesday morning.  In addition, please remind your kids that confession is available after school on Mondays. (Please note: this is just for students and teachers). To sign up to bring refreshments: All School volunteer sign up.

The SPA Rosary Group gathers to pray daily around 8:35 am Monday through Thursday in the Chapel on campus. We also offer a Zoom meeting Monday-Thursday for those who would like to join remotely. You are welcome to join us anytime! One of our regular members will always be there to lead, so there’s no pressure. We look forward to praying with you!

Over the course of the year, we pray one decade of the rosary by name for every student, staff member and coach at Savio. We are currently praying for our juniors. Intentions can be shared with us by emailing sparosary@saviochs.org, but no action is required. We also have two boxes for intentions placed in the SSC near Mr. Gamboa’s office. These intentions are kept private and not read by us or anyone else. We just pray over the boxes.
