From Fr. Gregory:

"If you truly want to help the soul of your neighbor, you should approach God first with all your heart. Ask him simply to fill you with charity, the greatest of all virtues; with it you can accomplish what you desire."

COLLECTING GIFT CARDS FOR THE SANTA FOUNDATION

St. Jude Church has supported the Santa Foundation for many years with presents from our “Giving Tree” and, more recently, with Gift Cards at Christmas. The Santa Foundation would like us to continue this new tradition of collecting Gift Cards for their families at Christmas.

Gift Cards suggested by the Santa Foundation for their families include:

Kohls, Barnes & Noble, Home Depot, Stop & Shop, Target, Walmart, Old Navy, Marshalls, HomeGoods, Shaw’s, Big Y, Market Basket, CVS, Bed, Bath & Beyond, VISA, Amazon, Walgreens, TJ Maxx, Movie Gift Cards

Suggested Amount of Gift Cards for Families:

$25 with the receipt attached and the amount written on the card. Folks can hand in as many Gift Cards as they would like.

You may also drop off Gift Cards at the Rectory during the week or leave them in the black locked mailbox outside of the Rectory any time. Gift Cards may also be mailed to St. Jude Rectory, PO Box 305, Norfolk, Ma. 02056. Please do not leave Gift Cards in the Church unattended.

We will be collecting Gift Cards outside the Church before Masses on the following days/times:

Saturdays: 11/19, 11/26, 12/3 – 4:30pm to start of 5pm Mass

Sundays: 11/20, 11/27, 12/4 – 7:30am to start of 8am Mass

Sundays: 11/20, 11/27, 12/4 – 10am to start of 10:30am Mass

Thank you very much for your generosity towards the Santa Foundation!!

St. Edward Parish – Jesse Tree 2022

The St. Edward’s Jesse Tree has been an Advent

tradition in our parish for many years. The generosity of our parishioners has helped the more needy families of St. Mary of The Angels Parish and its surrounding communities of Dorchester, Roxbury and Jamaica Plain. In recent years, this same spirit of giving has been extended to The South Boston – Seaport Collaborative.

The Jesse Tree will be set up in the Narthex for the weekend of

19, 20 November.

Like last year, the receiving parishes have asked that all our giving be done with $25.00 gift cards for the following retail stores:

Target, Marshalls/TJMaxx and Old Navy.

We have placed tags on the tree that correspond to the gift card requests. Please stop by the Jesse Tree and grab as many tags as you would like!

The Gift cards can be dropped in the Locked Drop Box that is located at the entrance doors to St. Edward Church starting on

Monday, 21 November. The box will be emptied each day.

Similar to last year, we have a goal of 600 gift cards. The final day for donating gift cards will be Tuesday, 13 December.

PLEASE NOTE: Only gift cards; no clothing gifts can be accepted.

           Thank you for your generosity!!!

Do you have baking talent? Do you ESPECIALLY love baking special cookies for the holidays?

The Medfield Christmas Cookie Walk, scheduled for Saturday, December 3, is looking for adult bakers. Bakers are asked to bake in their own kitchens a specific Christmas cookie - - Raspberry Thumbprints, Decorated Sugar Cookies, Shortbread Buttons or whatever your Christmas specialty may be! Work alone or with a group of friends on a Sunday afternoon this month (you can freeze many types of cookies) and, most importantly, have fun! Organizers are also looking for amazing bar cookies, or even homemade candies. Please, although they are delicious, no chocolate chip cookies or brownies.

"We humbly ask each baker to commit to ten dozen or more cookies," said Kathy Smith, Cookie Walk Chairperson. "The goal of our Cookie Walk is to offer a variety of special Christmas cookies to those who may not have the time or talent to bake their own." Due to the Pandemic, 2019 was the last year the event was held. A vote was taken and an overwhelming majority of Medfield "cookiers" voted to bring the Christmas Cookie Walk back for 2022.

If you are interested in baking, please email Kathy Smith for details and more info on the Medfield Christmas Cookie Walk:

Can't Wait to Get to Heaven by Fannie Flagg

Combining southern warmth with unabashed emotion and side-splitting hilarity, Fannie Flagg takes readers back to Elmwood Springs, Missouri, where the most unlikely and surprising experiences of a high-spirited octogenarian inspire a town to ponder the age-old question: Why are we here? In this comedy mystery, those near and dear to Elner discover something wonderful: Heaven is actually right here, right now, with people you love, neighbors you help, and friendships you keep.

For Your Consideration
Dignity Matters Drive is Underway

The Dignity Matters drive is currently underway! Currently, they are in need of tampons and pads of all kinds (except liners). Every woman deserves reliable access to monthly period protection because she can’t go to school, work, or live a healthy life without it. Your support helps Dignity Matters give 10,000+ women free menstrual care each month.

Dignity Matters currently serves women and girls each month through a diverse network of 160 shelters, public schools, food pantries and clinics in Greater Boston, MetroWest, Lawrence, Lowell, Quincy, Worcester and Cape Cod. The goal for 2022 is to reach 14,000 women and girls, a 25% increase. Dignity Matters is the largest organization in the state focused solely on providing free menstrual care, and often the only reliable source of these items for the women we serve.

Thank you in advance for your support! You may leave your donations in the Dignity Matters bin located in the lobby of the church.

Mental Health Resources
We hear every day to wash our hands, cover our coughs, stay 6 feet away.

Do we hear every day to sleep 8 hours, spend time in nature, connect with a loved one, eat plants, drink water, breathe deep, raise our heart rates, and stick with your treatment if you require it?
Click HERE for A list of Mental Health resources in our Area
We must remember to take care of ourselves in a different way, being mindful of our mental health.
The Holy Eucharist has been placed in a window on both parish properties so that parishioners can be in the presence of and venerate our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Please stop by, even if it may be in your car, and take a moment to pray to our Lord as you gaze upon him in the Holy Eucharist.
