2022 DISTRICT-WIDE FOOD DRIVE

VEAP logo.png

Edina Public Schools is partnering with VEAP, the Twin Cities largest food pantry, to raise food and funds for local families in need. Please join us April 4 – 8, 2022 as we work to fully stock VEAP’s pantry! With the help of area businesses, organizations, and other school districts, VEAP is aiming high to raise a total of 100,000 pounds of food during this critical spring drive.

We have 4 collection bins at Normandale. Locations are:

  • the main office
  • hallway near lost & found
  • hallway near the media center/playground
  • 3rd-5th grade hallway near the media center

We need 6 parent volunteers on Monday, April 11 9am-11ish to help us bring all of the collected food to VEAP in Bloomington. If you have room in your car and time to help, please sign up here!

To help with ideas, we have some fun themed days.

LUNCHTIME VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

We still welcome volunteers to supervise lunch in the Normandale Auditorium. Please sign up HERE if you are able to help.

FROM THE HEALTH OFFICE

Greetings Normandale Families!

A few updates from the CDC/MDH for COVID Guidelines:

The decision tree has officially been retired and replaced with:

  1. Isolation Guidance (For symptomatic or positive people)
  2. Quarantine Guidance (for people who have been exposed to COVID)

At home vault tests are a thing of the past. You can no longer order vault spit tests to your home. You can still order rapid tests to be delivered to your home:

MDH Order Your Free at Home Rapid Test

Some key takeaways:

  1. Isolation Guidance:
  • Test and isolate if symptoms appear
  • If positive, isolate for 5 days from others, return to activity on day 6
  1. Quarantine Guidance
  • If you are not up to date with your COVID vaccinations and you are able to wear a mask, quarantine for 5 days and wear a mask/physical distance from others for the remaining 5 days
  • NOTE: EPS has implemented a test to stay protocol where quarantine may not be required.
  • If you are not up to date with your COVID vaccinations and not able to wear a mask, quarantine for a full 10 day period.

Ok, Cesley, just tell me what I need to know.

Test if symptoms appear

Keep your kiddo home if they are not able to do their routine activities without their symptoms significantly interrupting their day.

If you kept your kiddo home sick, they can return when:

  • negative for COVID
  • symptoms are minimally impacting their routine activities (i.e. a cough every once in a while) and they’ve been fever/vomit/diarrhea free for 24 hours.

If your child comes to the health office not feeling well, we will assess them. If we determine they have a fever/have vomited/have diarrhea or they are not well enough to do their routine activities without significant disruption, your child will be sent home. We will also send home a Binax test kit for your use- you’re welcome!

Stay healthy and keep washing your filthy mitts,

Cesley Bergsten RN
