What we have been up to:

  • We also released a new data brief showcasing findings from the Early Childhood Iowa Longitudinal Study's Head Start addendum. Read about how children in Iowa are benefitting from full-day Head Start and Statewide Voluntary Preschool Programs HERE.

A recent analysis revealed that women connected with WIC or Medicaid services who give birth in areas where hospital birthing units have closed have more adequate prenatal care than women not connected with these valuable service systems.



In a new addendum to the Early Childhood Iowa Longitudinal Study, analysis found that white children were more likely to be enrolled for longer in Head Start programs in Iowa, while Black children, children born to teen moms or mothers will low education, or families below the Federal Poverty Line were more likely to be enrolled for fewer months. Measuring Equity Matters for Early Childhood Programs - This article from Mathematica details ways that state and federal programs can ensure equitable access for early childhood programs by disaggregating data by groups with historical barriers to accessing these programs.
