President's Message
October is probably my favorite month of the year. Not only do we (finally) start to get some relief from the heat, but football is back in full swing, hockey and basketball season are kicking off, and it is officially SPOOKY SEASON!!! October also signifies the beginning of the end (of the year), and the holidays will be here before you know it.

First of all, I want to say a big thank you to all of our friends who turned out for the Annual Award and Scholarship Fundraiser Banquet at the Fort Worth Museum of Science and Natural History. It was so much fun to see you all glammed up, and I had a fantastic time honoring our truly deserving annual award and scholarship winners. Supporting these types of events allows us to do even more as a chapter to provide professional development opportunities for our members, as well as continue to be one of the top chapters in the country for handing out scholarships!

We’re staying busy this fall by hosting the next in our Diversity Conversations Series, slated for October 19. This program will focus on the experiences of women in the industry who identify as LBGTQ+. We’ve got a fantastic panel lined up, as well as one or two special guests who will swing by for the program. Following that will be our quarterly members only Lattes and Leadership on November 3, featuring Melissa Meyer, Public Involvement Specialist for the TxDOT Dallas District. Registration for all our Lattes and Leadership Events are limited, and spots tend to go quickly, so keep an eye on your email!

Finally, election season is upon us. No, not those elections (well, actually yes, those elections too), but I was referring to our WTS Chapter Elections! Like all elections, your voice matters. So, if you’re interested in running for a leadership position, throw your hat in the ring, but no matter what, please take the time to vote on the future of this chapter. We’ve worked so hard over the last two years to make sure our Greater D/FW Chapter continues to grow and thrive, and we need your continued engagement to see that mission forward.

I hope everyone has a great October, a very Spooktacular Halloween, and as always, thanks for everything you do!

Sincerely,
Brittney Farr, Esq.
President, Greater Dallas/Fort Worth Chapter
