The DPS ‘Your Voice/Tu Voz’ Survey is Now Open
Dear Educators,

Our mid-year “Your Voice/Tu Voz Survey” is open now through Feb. 4! Check your DPS email inbox for an email from Superintendent Alex Marrero with your unique link to this confidential survey. Your responses to the survey are important because they inform decisions on how we can better serve our DPS community. Share your voice to make a difference for DPS -- and win a prize! Learn more about available prizes here.

We want to hear from our entire community! In addition to taking your Team DPS survey, please also encourage your students and families to share their voice by taking the student and family surveys. Students can submit their responses using the link they received in their DPS email account on Jan. 24 and families can use this link.

For more information, visit the Survey FAQ on The Commons. The final DPS “Your Voice/Tu Voz” Survey of the year will occur in May.

Thank you for helping us shape the future of DPS!

Many thanks,
Tamara and Mike
TSEAL Tip of the Week: Proactive Coping Skills
This week’s TSEAL tip is focused on Proactive Coping Skills. Self-regulation tools are excellent for manageable days, but what about when life gets hard? Some days we can access inner resources beautifully and others, it can feel nearly impossible.

Check out these resources for practicing both reactive and preventative coping skills for yourself, your students and your community.

  • Yourself: Daily life -- especially during current times -- can be stressful! What daily practices or routines are you doing to support healthy coping skills? Read more about Coping With Life's Stressors

  • Students: Play Coping Skills Bingo using these bingo cards to discuss preventative ways to cope with stress!

  • Schoolwide Community: 15 Coping Strategies for Kids is a resource that shares ways all adults can support students inside and outside of the classroom. Please share this with your school community.

Review Expedited Newcomer Transfer Tips
With the ongoing arrival of refugee students, it’s important that students who choose to attend a Newcomer Center can transfer there quickly from their home school. Schools should review the Expedited Newcomer Transfer Tips to help with this process. Remember that students must meet the Newcomer eligibility requirements and the family must choose to attend the Newcomer Center before beginning the transfer process from their neighborhood school.

As a reminder, siblings of students attending a Newcomer Center may also attend the Newcomer Center school if space allows. For example, a kindergartner or first-grader who is not eligible for Newcomer identification, may attend Place Bridge Academy with their Newcomer sibling. These students will also be eligible for transportation along with their sibling.
