Principal's Message

I am incredibly impressed with all of our new faculty members at Guardian Angels. Already, they are demonstrating great commitment and dedication to our school and the angels we serve. They work every day to help students be honest, accountable, and leaders to others. I am very blessed they chose be part of the Guardian Angels community and look forward to watching them grow as educators throughout their careers.

Today, our new art teacher, Mrs. Donahue, came to me to determine a place to hang up some new pieces of student artwork. When she showed me two of the pieces, I was absolutely blown away with the high quality of student work! Pictures of the work are below. Here is a brief description that I asked her to write of the assignment:

"The 7th and 8th Grade Art classes have been busy studying the work of artist and animator, Tim Burton. The students were tasked with creating Tim Burton-inspired self-portraits. In addition to using similar facial characteristics inspired by his many films, students have added value and shading to bring their art to life! The results have turned out phenomenal! The self-portraits were created using black and white charcoal pencils and oil pastels."

Please join me in continuing to welcome our new staff members to our community and thank them for all they are doing to guide our angels to great successes.

God bless,

Corey Stoops

Cafeteria Volunteers Needed

Calling all parents, grandparents and other SafeParish trained volunteers! We are still in need a few helping hands in the cafeteria over the next few weeks. We have consistently had 1 volunteer per day, but the increased social distancing measures have caused us to add more tables in the cafeteria. It would be tremendously helpful to have 2 volunteers per day to keep up with increased cleaning and monitoring of our angels at lunchtime.

  • Thursday, October 21 – 1 parent needed
  • Friday, October 22 – 1 parent needed
  • Monday, October 25 – 1 parent needed
  • Tuesday, October 26 – 1 parent needed
  • Wednesday, October 27 – 2 parents needed

Can you spare time in your day to help? If you are able to help out, sign-up here.

Just a reminder: All volunteers must have transferred or be newly trained through SafeParish.

Lunch Accounts & Venmo Payments

If you have multiple children who buy lunch at school and want to avoid paying multiple service fees per account, please remember that you can pay a lump sum via Venmo to Collette Thompson @Kaldis. You would simply need to specify each child’s account that you would like to divide the lump sum for in the “What’s it for” line when making your Venmo payment. You will receive a message back from Kaldi’s when your Venmo payment has been applied accordingly.

More information about the lunch program, including a link to the menu, is below in the Reminders section.

Christian Service Program - Faith in Action

The purpose of the Christian Service Program is to enhance the religion curriculum at Guardian Angels Church. It is the duty of all Christians to reach out in service to those around them. Christ asks us to be His hands and feet on earth, keeping His mission of reaching out to those in need alive. The students will complete their service within the following settings: at home, the parish community/school and the community at-large. This outreach may be completed individually, with a partner, or in a group.

This program will focus more on the meaning of the actual service opportunities rather than completing a prescribed amount of time. You will choose activities for each component—service to your family, service to your school/parish and service to the poor and vulnerable in our community. There is no minimum requirement of hours to complete. Grades 1-3 are required to complete at least 2 activities for each component; grades 4-8 at least 3 for each. You are certainly encouraged to complete more! See your Religion teacher, Mrs. Froehlich, or the parish website for a list of suggested activities and the log sheet.

Questions? Contact Kay Froehlich, Director of Religious Education, for more information.
