MANAGER'S MESSAGE
Dear Highland Shores Residents,
Happy December! Read on for important community updates.

Annual Meeting:
Thank you to everyone who was able to attend the 2021 Annual Meeting. Congratulations to Christopher Payne, the winner of the drawing for the free 2022 assessment. We had a lot of great dialogue and appreciate the feedback from the attendees. We are excited to enter a new year serving the residents of our great community.

New Tennis Court Reservation System:
We are pleased to announce that our tennis court reservations are now handled by ReserveMyCourt.com, beginning today, December 1, 2021. This service allows you to check on court availability and make reservations from the internet, iPhone app, or Android app. All court reservations are now handled through this system, so please read the full announcement for instructions and more information. The new tennis court rules, effective today, December 1, 2021, can be found on our website, or you can download and save the new tennis court rules.

2022 Annual Assessments:
The 2022 annual assessment notices will be mailed this month and will include your new account number and the new payment remittance address. Payments must be received, not postmarked, on or before January 31, 2022. Late fees will be applied to payments received after February 1, 2022. The 2022 annual assessment is $830. Please follow the instructions in the notice for payment options. Please contact the management office with any questions.

2022 Community Center Reservations:
We are now accepting rental reservations for the 2022 year. For more information about renting the Community Center and to view the contract and rules, please visit our website. If you have specific rental questions, please e-mail Abby Grimes.

Christmas & New Year Holidays Office Hours:
The management office will close Thursday, December 23 at 3:00 PM. We will resume normal business hours on Tuesday, December 28. The management office will close Thursday, December 30 at 3:00 PM. We will resume normal business hours on Tuesday, January 4.

The Pet Treat Truck
Thursday, December 9, 4:00 - 7:00 PM

The newest craze in food trucks is making its way to the Community Center on Thursday, December 9 from 4:00 - 7:00 PM. Bring your furry friend to purchase a treat from The Pet Treat Truck. They carry a variety of different pet treats including cookies, ice cream, doggy beer, cat wine, and of course, toys!
Chocolate Holiday House Party
Friday, December 17, 5:30 - 7:30 PM

Join us as we celebrate the 2021 holiday season with a fun, hands-on experience that makes for a delightful date night or small family activity. This is an in-person class held at the Community Center.

Yelibelly’s chocolatiers will assist you in building your chocolate house, and you are in charge of decorating. Choose from a variety of holiday decorations, sprinkles, icing, and more. Each house comes with a make-and-take travel box to safely transport your chocolate house back to your own home.

Pre-registration is required. Due to space limitations, no more than 2 people per holiday house kit, or 1 adult and 1 child. This event is best for children 5 and over. All children MUST have an adult accompany them and help them with the class to participate.

Tickets are only $10 per chocolate holiday house kit, thanks to our sponsor, Lee Conte-Vaughn.
Cousins Maine Lobster Food Truck
Tuesday, December 21, 5:00 - 8:00 PM

Warm up on the first day of winter with a delicious lobster dinner from Cousins Maine Lobster food truck. Stop by the Community Center to pick up authentic Maine lobster rolls, lobster tots, lobster grilled cheese, and more!
CITY OF HIGHLAND VILLAGE EVENTS
  • Entry deadline is Friday, December 10 and there is no cost for entering.
  • Winners will receive bragging rights and a keepsake award sign in their yard. Winners will also be featured on the Parks & Recreation Facebook page and website.

  • Beginning Sunday, December 12 through Friday, December 17, Santa will be riding through the neighborhoods of Highland Village on the Fire Engine. See this map to check out when Santa will be on your street.

Spring Tennis Academy

Bad Dawg Tennis Tennis Academy offers junior (ages 5-13) classes and adult classes at Tennis Courts 5-8.

Women's Tennis League

The Highland Shores Women's Tennis League held its end of season play and luncheon on November 17. The winners for the Fall League were First Place, Carol Leverette and Second Place, Kim Nyman. This is a social tennis league for the neighborhood which plays each Wednesday. This is a flexible league with several levels of play for the neighborhood. This is a great social event to meet neighbors, form friendships, and play social tennis. Our Spring League begins at the end of February 2022 and runs through the middle of May 2022. Our Fall League begins the first of September and runs through the middle of November. However, we do continue all year long for those who want to continue to play.

Celebrate the Season, Enjoy the Music
The Flower Mound Symphony Orchestra, the Trietsch Chancel Choir and the Voices of Flower Mound present Sounds of the Season Saturday, December 11 at 7:00 PM and Sunday, December 12 at 2:30. The concerts will be performed at Trietsch Memorial United Methodist Church, 6101 Morris Road in Flower Mound and will be conducted jointly by Esteban Rojas, FMCO; Karen Chraska, Trietsch and Arturo Ortega, Voices of Flower Mound.

Admission is $10 each, 12 and under free, $40 maximum charge per family and are good for either performance. Tickets may be purchased at fmco.org. Visit the Trietsch website tmumc.org/Christmas and fmco.org for more information.
