UFTI Will Attend the 2022 Transportation Research Board Annual Meeting (#TRBAM)
UFTI students, faculty, and staff will attended the 2022 Transportation Research Board Annual Meeting in Washington D.C. January 9-13, 2022. The event will return to it’s traditional in-person meeting format following health and safety guidelines. The annual meeting's theme this year is “Innovating an Equitable, Resilient, Sustainable, and Safe Transportation System".

This is an exciting time as the Highway Capacity Manual 7.0 is being released by TRB, with new methods being implemented in the upcoming Highway Capacity Software 2022 Release. Visitors will be able to take a sneak peek into the HCS 2022 and learn about our new initiatives, such as new training courses and products.

UFTI’s Technology Transfer (T2) Center to Chair, Participate in Standing Committees at 2022 TRBAM
The UFTI-T2 Center will be present at the following events of the 101st TRBAM:
Dr. Nithin Agarwal, Director, UFTI-T2 Center, Chair of the Signal Timing Subcommittee of ACP25 Standing Committee on Traffic Signal Systems on January 9th, 8 AM – Noon at Convention Center 102.
Mr. Scott Tison, Lead Instructor, UFTI-T2, Member of ACP55 Standing Committee on Traffic Control Devices. Mr. Scott also serves in the National Committee for Uniform Traffic Control Devices (NCUTDC) and will attend their conference during TRB at the Hilton Crystal City Hotel in Arlington, Va.

The UFTI's McTrans Center Will Implement the New Features of the HCM7 in Its Next Release of the HCS
The Transportation Research Board will release the next version of the Highway Capacity Manual as HCM 7.0! This fully electronic version of the HCM includes:
- Capacity impacts of connected and automated vehicles (CAVs).
- New network analysis method for corridors with freeways and urban streets, including queue spillback between these facilities (developed by a project led by Dr. Elefteriadou at UF).
- New, improved two-lane highways analysis method (developed by a project led by Dr. Washburn at UF).
- Enhancements to existing pedestrian analysis methods at signalized and unsignalized intersections
- Errata and revisions from the HCM 6.
The McTrans team is already implementing it into the next release of the Highway Capacity Software (HCS) - to be announced soon.

UFTI Doctoral Student Sagar Patni Awarded William R. McGrath Florida Puerto-Rico ITE District Transportation Scholarship
The William R. McGrath Florida Puerto-Rico ITE District Transportation Scholarship is provided on annual basis to further the educational pursuits of an outstanding student in the field of transportation. This year Sagar Patni, a Ph.D. student in Transportation Engineering at UFTI working under Dr. Siva Srinivasan, received the scholarship.
The scholarship is given to students who are serving ITE student chapter in their respective universities. Patni has been involved with GatorITE (student chapter at UF) for 3 years now. He was the vice-president for GatorITE in 2020-21 and is currently serving as the President (2021-22).
"I am extremely happy to receive this award for the year 2021. Indeed, it's a great motivation to work and achieve more and more," says Patni.

Driving is the primary means of transportation in the United States and is a vital link to community integration and societal participation. Populations across the lifespan require driving evaluations and interventions.
