Dear Parents,

This week found our students participating in so many wonderful activities. Not only did they love their weekly music classes with Miss Clarice, they marveled at all the wonderful things growing in our garden. Classes continue to water and observe and some had the opportunity to taste the tomatoes. Soon we will see the broccoli, cabbage, peppers, and cauliflower coming out!.

This week our kids in Rainbow, Orange, Brown, Purple, Silver and Gold were treated to an on site fieldtrip by the Miami Children's Museum. A Dr. Seuss Character reach several Dr. Seuss classics and he was oh so animated. If your child is in one of those classes you will see a charge of $7 to your Brightwheel accounts. 

This week our super scientists in First Grade learned about the parts of a microscope, how to use one and had the opportunity to view slides under the microscope. I was amazed pat how engaged the entire class was during this activity that was geared to much older kids. I left them with a diagram that had Velcro dots so that can can practice labeling its parts.

Our kids in VPK had a follow up to the Density experiment from last week. This week they combined green water, red corn syrup, and yellow vegetable oil. The made predications and found that the corn syrup was the most dense since it sank to the bottom and the oil was the least dense since it floated to the top. The most exciting part was that the kids had the opportunity to take their density bottles home.

With regard to the class photos posted outside the school, I think there is a little confusion. Some parents did not order telling me they bought those photos in November. That is true, but what is being sold is an 8x10 photo of THE ENTIRE CLASS. Many families like to get these from year to year so their child can get to know their friends better. The teacher photo is also on the 8x10. This year the company is doing something a little different. The photo will have all the kids in the class and the teacher, but your child will be in a much bigger box. If you wish to order one, they are $12. Simply circle your child's photo on the paper and we will know you would like one. This is also a fundraiser for the school as the profits from the photos will go to buy summer playground toys. We anticipate those photos will arrive in 2-3 weeks. If you ordered, when they arrive, we will bill your Brightwheel accounts.

Exiting news about scholarships for those parents who attend Miami Dade College. I am in the process of signing up to be a voucher provider. What this means is some Miami Dade College students may receive a voucher to help pay for childcare. As I learn more information I will let you know, but this could be very exciting for parents who are attending Miami Dade.

Finally my apologies for all the delays on the new shirts. There has been many supply chain problems with both the color and getting any shirt whatsoever. As of the writing of this letter the shirts have arrived at the printer and I am told we should have them on Monday. I ordered plenty of extras so if you did not order, we should have enough.
