School District of Washington Veterans Day Programs Scheduled in November
With Veterans Day on Friday, November 11, buildings in the School District of Washington have scheduled Veterans Day programs.
WHS Softball Places Third at Class 4 State Tourney
While the Washington High School softball team fell short of a second straight state championship, the Lady Jays did end the season with a victory.

Competing at the MSHSAA Class 4 Softball Championships at Killian Softball Complex in Springfield on Thursday, October 27, Washington captured a third-place finish to end its season.
Washington Middle School Leadership Class Hosts Staff Gourmet Salad Bar Luncheon
Students in Logan Schamerloh’s Leadership class at Washington Middle School planned a gourmet salad bar staff luncheon on Wednesday, October 12. The luncheon included salad with several different types of lettuce, toppings and dressings. For dessert, there were different types of cobblers for staff to enjoy.
Washington High School Culinary Arts Students Work Blue Jay Gourmet
Washington High School students in the culinary arts program served chili, soup and biscuits to staff at the Blue Jay Gourmet on Thursday, October 13.

The Blue Jay Gourmet has lunch available for staff on selected Thursdays throughout the school year.
Fire Safety Program Held At Augusta Elementary
Augusta Elementary students participated in a fire safety presentation event on Tuesday, October 11.

Representatives from the Augusta Fire Department visited Augusta Elementary for a fire safety presentation.
Washington High School Marching Band Festival
The 54th Annual Gene Hunt Washington High School Marching Band Festival took place on Saturday, October 1. The festival featured a field competition.

As the hosts, the Washington High School Marching Blue Jays, also known as “The Pride of Washington,” gave an exhibition performance in the field competition. They were not eligible for awards.
Clearview Elementary Student Leadership Groups
Clearview Elementary’s Student Leadership Program held team meetings on Friday, September 30.

The goal is to incorporate the Student Council and the Student Leadership teams together to make one organization, and involve every student at Clearview.
Washington Middle School Veterinary Medicine Students Visit Humane Society of Missouri
Stefanie Virgen's Veterinary Medicine classes at Washington Middle School took a career-based field trip to the Humane Society of Missouri in St. Louis Friday, October 7.

The students, several teachers, and the Mercy Cardiology staff also made significant donations to meet needs listed as critical by the Humane Society due to an influx of strays and rescues.
Amanda Schweissguth Receives Blue Jay Pride Award

Amanda Schweissguth, Educational Technology Specialist for the School District of Washington, is the latest recipient of the Blue Jay Pride Award.

The Blue Jay Pride Award was introduced to recognize and showcase quality SDOW staff and the focus on the District’s core beliefs. Through peer nomination, individuals are able to acknowledge exceptional staff who positively impact the schools, district and community.
Washington High School Theatre Presents 'The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee' November 10-12

The Washington High School Theatre Department presents, “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee,” on Thursday-Saturday, November 10-12, at the CJ Burger Auditorium on the WHS campus.
Parent Summit Financial Literacy November 8
Please join us for our family/community event on Tuesday, November 8, at the Technology and Learning Center from 5:30-6:30 p.m.: Financial Literacy Night. We are grateful for the partnerships with Bank of Washington, First State Community Bank, and Bank of Franklin County, who will teach us important information about budgeting, credit, and fraud.

General Election Tuesday, November 8
The Franklin County Clerk’s office reminds citizens that the General Election takes place on Tuesday, November 8. Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.
