Dear Primary School Families,

Congratulations to all of the CV students who participated in the Pittsburgh Marathon Kids of Steel Race on Saturday. They have been meeting once a week for the past few months to train and log their marathon miles! On Saturday, we ran the final mile of a marathon together as a team! Way to Go! Thank you to all incoming and current families that were able to attend our Kindergarten Transition Event last week. It was exciting to move back to an in-person event this year!

This week, we celebrate our faculty and staff as part of Teacher Appreciation Week. We are so grateful for our incredible faculty and staff who inspire and encourage our students on a daily basis. Our PTG had planned a full week of treats as a thank you for their continued support, time commitment, and hard work.

As we move into this final month of the school year, we have many exciting and engaging activities planned for students.

Second Grade Spring Concerts

Spring Concert Season is almost here and we are excited to celebrate the musical accomplishments of our second-grade students! Second-grade families are invited to attend based on the following schedule. All concerts begin at 2:15 pm in the Primary School gymnasium.

Library Donations

Thank You! The Library already has over 100 books donated! See below for a picture of some of your donations!

You have an opportunity to help the PS library grow by donating a book from our wish list in your child's name. A special bookplate will be placed in the front section of the book with your child's name and reason to celebrate! He/she will be so proud to be the first to check the book out of the library! Fun Day

The CVPS PTG is very excited to have Fun Day in person again this year after a couple of years off. Fun Day will be on Tuesday, May 24. What is Fun Day?! It is exactly that – a day of fun for all of CVPS! We celebrate the end of the 2021-2022 CVPS school year – and what a year it has been! There will be inflatables, carnival games, outdoor games, bingo, glow dance party, BMX Assembly, crafts, and much more.

We are also still in need of some supplies due to some being lost, ruined, etc during the pandemic. Kindergarten Registration for Fall 2022

Kindergarten registration for Fall 2022 is now open. All school-aged children residing within the Chartiers Valley School District, including students who attend private, parochial, placement, and charter schools, must register with the District registrar. Children turning 5-years-old on or before September 1 are eligible to attend Kindergarten in the fall. For more information, including the complete registration packet and list of required documents, visit the registration page on the District website.

Kennywood Picnic

The Annual CVSD Kennywood Day is June 10, 2022. All tickets can be purchased online by clicking here. There will be no in-school ticket sales this year. Click here for more information.

In March, CV Middle School science teacher Mr. Caplan was awarded the National Hockey League / Future Goals Most Valuable Teacher of the month distinction. Now, he is one of only three finalists in the country in the running for the Most Valuable Teacher of the Year award.

CVPS will continue an exciting donation drive as part of our Earth Day activities! From April 11th through the last day of school there will be a donation box in each classroom to collect new or used crayons.

T-Shirt Tuesdays

We encourage all students and staff to wear the blue anti-bullying t-shirt to school every Tuesday. The shirts have our school-wide positive behavior and intervention support message on the back: Be Safe, Be Responsible and Be Respectful.

ID Requirements

All approved guardians that arrive for car rider dismissal must be prepared to show a driver’s license or photo identification daily. This information is listed on pages 8-9 in the Elementary K-5 Student Handbook for further reference. Please remember to send an email to psattendance@cvsd.net for any updates or changes to your approved pick-up list.

Tardies

Parents, please be reminded that if your child enters the building after 9 am, it is considered an unexcused tardy. We appreciate your help in getting them to school prior to 9 am each morning. Thank you!
