Supply chain disruption impacts road projects

SupplyChainGraphic.png

The same supply-chain disruptions that are impacting businesses and store shelves are creating delays in Washington County road construction and maintenance projects.

Some work was delayed this summer as delivery times were double what we expected. While some supplies were delayed, we received everything we ordered.

We anticipate possible delays obtaining other materials this winter, including:

  • Liquid magnesium chloride (anti-icing agent)
  • Aluminum (traffic signs)
  • Steel (signposts, guardrails and other bridge materials)

We continue to work with our suppliers on all delays to anticipate road project impacts. We are adding long lead times in our schedules for next year’s projects, including:

  • Electronics, including Intelligent Transportation Systems technology
  • Fiber optic cables
  • Traffic signal and light poles
  • Precast concrete items (culverts, noise walls and bridge beams)

We are working with our suppliers to address delays and provide realistic timelines for projects. Check project webpages for the latest construction schedules.
