Buda Bonds 2021 Updates

Project Updates and Milestones

Old Black Colony Road

The design consultant (K Friese + Associates) is currently working on the 30% preliminary design and cost estimates. The preliminary design is on track to be completed in November 2023.

The City of Buda held an open house on Sept. 27, 2023, to gather community feedback on preliminary plans and proposed improvements to Old Black Colony Road. The City will continue to work with property owners along Old Black Colony Road and incorporate their input as the project progresses.

RM 967 Right Turn Lane at FM 1626

Morning and afternoon peak traffic counts were collected on RM 967 and FM 1626 in mid-September. This process helps provide more information on traffic flow, turning movements, and future growth.

The design consultant (WSB) is on track to complete the preliminary design that shows where acceleration or deceleration lanes would be beneficial for safety and traffic flow by November 2023.

Middle Creek Drive

The City’s geotechnical consultant completed the soil sampling and testing. The geotechnical firm also installed and gathered groundwater data using Piezometers along Middle Creek Drive to monitor, record, and document groundwater levels.

K Friese + Associates will evaluate the collected data and develop a recommendation that will be shared with the community in November 2023.

Community Meetings and Events

Old Black Colony Road Open House & National Night Out Celebration

Thank you to the 50+ attendees who visited the open house on Sept. 27 for Old Black Colony Road improvements and provided valuable feedback! Another open house will be held mid-2024 to share design updates with the community and collect feedback.

We enjoyed seeing our neighbors at the National Night Out event in Whispering Hollow on Oct. 3. Thank you for stopping by and chatting with us about upcoming Bond projects!

Upcoming Meetings: Buda Bond Oversight Committee (BBOC)

The BBOC will hold their next meeting on Monday, Nov. 20 at City Hall at 6:30 p.m. BBOC meetings are open to the public and we encourage you to join us to learn more about the 2021 Buda Bonds projects!

We have a dedicated team working diligently to bring the $89.66 million Buda Bonds Projects to life. We are delighted to show you the remarkable individuals who make up the Buda Bonds Oversight Committee! For several months, we will shine a spotlight on a different team member and their unique journey. Get to know the people who represent Buda's interests and are making an impact in the community.

Meet Kimberly Goodman

Kimberly is a member of the BBOC and the Chief Nurse Executive at Austin State Hospital. She has lived in Buda for 18 years with her two children and enjoys trying new restaurants and going to concerts.

Kimberly teaches Nursing Classes for Concordia University at Seton Hays Hospital and Warm Springs Rehabilitation Hospital in Kyle. She said she loves to advocate for her community and serves as the Vice President of the Cullen Country HOA, and is a member of the Buda Lions Club. She recently graduated from both the Buda Citizens Academy and the Buda Citizens Police Academy.

Kimberly is excited to contribute to the upcoming additions to Buda’s beautiful parks and work with her fellow board members to make that happen.

Fun Fact: Kimberly is a huge fan of the '80s and can play the violin!
