Dear Rondout Families, Faculty and Friends,
We were delighted to see so many of our families at Open House last week. We hope you enjoyed visiting your child’s classrooms and learning spaces. Our next event for families is the Fun Run this Saturday , October 21st which will take place between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. weather permitting. Sunshine is in the forecast for this Saturday so we hope that using our rain date of October 28th will not be necessary.
Next week is Red Ribbon Week. Ms. Grossman has planned an exceptional week of activities around the theme of Be Kind to Your Mind Stay Drug Free. Please be sure to check out the information in the flyer about the focus of each day next week.
Families are also invited to join us for the Halloween festivities on Tuesday October 31st. Please click on the link for more details about the festivities planned for that afternoon between 1:20 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.
November 4th will be our first Family Day of Service with several projects planned. Families are welcome to pop in to work on hands on projects between 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. that morning. Several of our Village Departments will be sponsoring a food drive to stock the shelves in the North Chicago Community Partners Care Closet and a textile recycling drive in partnership with USAgain. More information will be provided regarding these recycling and restocking drives in a separate flyer focused on the Family Day of Service.
The PTSA is having their November meeting on Tuesday evening November 7th at 6:30 p.m. That week, we will also be reaching out to Rondout friends and families who are veterans or active military to participate in our Veteran’s Day celebration on Friday November 10th. The school-wide assembly will begin at 9 a.m. in the Multi-Purpose Room. A link to sign up is found in the flyer below.
During Blue Ribbon Week, Rondout will kick-off to a new enrichment component of our program called “Cultural Celebrations”. This program connects with our Peace Crane projects and will build an understanding and knowledge of geography, history, literature, arts and cultures. Our first set of Cultural Celebrations will take place on November 13th and November 14th with a focus on the countries in North, South and Central America that speak Spanish.
There will be a strong tie in to our Spanish Foreign Language program. There will be special enrichment activities, virtual field trips, demonstrations and fine and performing arts activities for all of K-8. If your family shares in the cultural heritage of this part of the world or you would like to take an active part in these activities, please reach out to me via email by Friday October 27th to volunteer. There are many ways that parents can be a part of these special days. Looking forward to sharing these exceptional experiences with our students.
Please review the COVID information sent home in an earlier email. The community is seeing an uptick in number of COVID cases and this week we saw our first cases this year. We continue with our cleaning and sanitizing protocols but have not returned to the greater restrictions that were in place during the pandemic. Your assistance is greatly appreciated.
Until next time... Take care...
