We are thrilled to announce our new cohort of grant recipients, each working to enhance access to quality dental care throughout Virginia. These grants support vital programs, expand services and invest in the next generation of oral health professionals.
From funding full-time dental hygienists to integrating advanced technology for affordable dentures, our grants are making a tangible impact. In Northern Virginia, the Arlington Free Clinic will now have additional support for a full-time dental hygienist. In Southwest Virginia, the Bland Ministry Center is building new operatories to better serve patients.
Education and workforce development remain a priority. Bradley Free Clinic in Roanoke will provide stipends and support for VCU dental students, and Germanna Community College will team up with Mountain Empire Community College to support faculty salaries and scholarships for students in the Dental Assisting II program.
Additionally, multiple clinics received funding to support new and existing dental staff. Charlottesville Free Clinic’s grant covers employment costs for a dentist. New Horizons Healthcare’s grant underwrites a new dentist’s salary. Richmond’s Cross-Over Ministry Inc. plans to use its grant funds to hire both a new bilingual dental assistant and a part-time hygienist.
Innovation continues to drive progress, with Hampton Ecumenical Lodging and Provisions (HELP) integrating 3D printing technology at fellow safety net clinics to produce affordable dentures, night guards and crowns. Meanwhile, Appalachian Highlands Regional Dental Clinic in Abingdon is expanding its facility with an additional 2,500 square feet to house a new denture lab.
These grants reflect our continued commitment to strengthening Virginia’s oral health landscape. Together, we are ensuring that more patients receive the quality dental care they deserve.
