Federal COVID SNAP Benefits to End in March

Households nationwide will receive their last payment of extra COVID Snap benefits today, March 2, 2023.

5,107 households in Salem receive SNAP benefits. These families will lose an average of $150 per month due to the abrupt end of this program.

As a result, The Salem Pantry is preparing for a rise in the need for our services.

Donate today to support The Salem Pantry during this increased need.

The Market, the Salem Pantry's first brick-and-mortar location is set to open in April!

The Market, located at the corner of Congress and Leavitt Street, will serve the same fresh, free food currently served at our mobile sites, including produce, protein, dairy, and nonperishable items.

This convenient and consistent location will be open five days a week and include evening and weekend hours.

The Salem Pantry is working with The Salem Skipper and The Salem Council on Aging to provide transportation options for those who might need assistance getting to The Market.

Stay tuned for more information as we get closer to the opening!
