Pride month is in full swing, and we continue to celebrate and embrace the LGBTQ+ community. Thank you to our employees, clients, referral partners and community for showing
your pride in June.

Our summer internship program is back on track after a hiatus during the pandemic. Hoover Krepelka, LLP offers summer internships to provide high school, college, and law school students an opportunity to experience working in the family law field. This year, we have the pleasure of mentoring two aspiring new hires…
Wendy Chao – Law Clerk
Wendy recently finished her second year as a law student at the University of San Francisco School of Law and is no stranger to the legal system. Wendy has held previous internships at San Francisco City Attorney's Office and the Family & Children's Law Center. This summer, Wendy is keeping busy at HK by handling legal research and preparing trial briefs and hearing packets. She has been shadowing hearings, learning how attorneys can effectively present themselves and evidence in court, and how to interact with opposing counsel. Outside of the legal field, Wendy has volunteered at Hopalong Animal Rescue in Oakland where she assisted with administrated work and cared for their cats. We have been enjoying Wendy's presence at the office and are certain she is on a stellar trajectory for a phenomenal legal career.
Erika Osgood – Intern
Erika recently finished her sophomore year at Valley Christian High school with a 4.0 GPA. Erika jumped in to assist our Accounts team with filing and record documentation and she helped to convert a monstrous amount of paper files into electronic documents. Erika met with our marketing and operations teams, and she even extended organizational improvement advice and assistance. She also had an opportunity to shadow our attorneys as she gained an understanding of the importance of family law.
Thank you for spending your summer
with HK, Wendy and Erika!
Employee Spotlight – Van Phan
This month’s employee spotlighting shines on Van Phan, Paralegal! Van joined Hoover Krepelka, LLP in August 2018 as a Legal Administrative Assistant. Her steadfast dedication, accuracy and proactiveness eventually led to her promotion to Paralegal in February 2020.  Behind the scenes, Van is integral to our team. We took a moment to ask Van about her favorite part of her job.
Van: The best part of my job is working with a supportive team. The team always says, “teamwork makes the dream work” and it’s so true here at HK. We all help each other, and I couldn’t be more thankful to be a part of this team.
We truly appreciate Van and the fantastic work she does.
Thank you, Van!
Authority Magazine Interview with Travis Krepelka, Partner and CFLS
Thank you to reporter Eric Pines with Authority Magazine for the interview with Travis I. Krepelka to discuss The Business Side of Law.

In the article, Travis offers his perspective on creating success when starting and leading a law firm.
On June 16th, 2022, Julia P. McDowell, Partner and CFLS, was officially honored at the Silicon Valley Business Journal’s Women of Influence 2022 awards ceremony. Congratulations again to Julia and this year’s class of honorees of 100 of the most influential women in business in Silicon Valley!

As we applaud her well-deserved recognition and oogle her award, we also take a moment to spotlight Julia’s non-profit organization, Demonstrate Love.
Julia and her husband Mark founded Demonstrate Love in 2018. The organization predominantly focuses on the rural villages of southern Malawi, one of the poorest areas in the world. They operate three village-based preschools for more than 200 children and provide accessible education from teachers trained in the Montessori method. They provide the students a meal of nutritional porridge, which in some situations may be their only meal of the day. Demonstrate Love also sponsors high school students by providing aid to cover uniforms, school fees, and books. They also hold community development projects where they partner with villages and invest in building new infrastructures, like churches, schools, and water wells.
Please join us in supporting Demonstrate Love.  You can do so effortlessly, through Amazon Smile. When you register Demonstrate Love as your charity of choice on Amazon Smile, 0.5 percent of any purchase made via Amazon Smile will be donated back to Demonstrative Love. Every bit counts and truly does make a difference.
