What Happened in Chapel this Week?

Since our scheduled speaker for PreK-4th chapel was not feeling well, Mr. Montgomery spoke briefly of ways we can be Beauty Makers in God's world, whether that be through art, music, sports, or even our schoolwork. We look forward to further exploring how Beauty Makers glorify and praise God by creating that which is beautiful and pleasing to Him throughout this month.

Despite the impending snowstorm, our middle school students were still able to hear from our chapel speaker, thanks to the blessing of technology. Pastor Robinson, from Impact Church in Waterloo, shared with the students truths about their incredible value as Image Bearers and children of God - highly loved and favored, no matter what others may say about them.

Missions

Many of you may recognize these two faces, but for those of you that don’t… Miss Mysnyk is a former Heritage student and teacher, and she is currently serving as a global worker. Anani is the sweet boy from Togo that we sponsor as a school through Compassion International. We encourage you to be praying for them, as we continue to pray for them at school with your children. Students will be given a card (see below) to remind them to pray as well. Students are welcome to contribute towards Anani’s sponsorship (through Compassion International) through giving money at chapel during offering. Thank you!

“The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in His love He will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.” Zephaniah 3:17

Please pray for:
·        Protection (physical, spiritual, emotional, etc.)
·        Boldness (to share Jesus authentically and powerfully)
·        Peace (people of peace to help share the Good News)
·        Assurance (that God is with them and is for them)

Basketball Game Recaps
Girls Team:
The Heritage girls basketball team has started the season with back-to-back wins. The Eagles played Cedar Valley Christian on Thursday, January 6 and won 46-6. The team put together a stifling defensive effort that led to numerous fast break opportunities that the Eagles were able to capitalize on. Every player on the team was able to get into the scoring column as the team had an incredibly balanced offensive attack. In the second game against the Isaac Newton Patriots, the Eagles won 25-10. The Eagles led 10-6 at halftime but were able to pull away in the second half thanks to a relentless effort on the offensive glass and tough defense in the half court. The girls basketball team will return to action next week on Tuesday, January 18 when they travel to Central Lutheran to take on the Panthers.

5/6th Boys
The 5/6th Eagles opened their season on January 6th with a stunning 48-9 victory over the Cedar Valley Huskies. Leading scorers were Kyan Anderson with 19 points and Carter Turnbough with 18 points. This past Monday, they traveled to Pathway where they successfully attained a 35-22 win over the Panthers. Leading scorers were Carter Turnbough with 14 points and Kyan Anderson with 10 points. Last night, the Eagles faced the Patriots of Isaac Newton Christian School, but the Patriots were no match for the Eagles. Thanks to the tremendous defensive effort from the Eagles, they soared to a 38-18 victory. Leading scorers were Carter Turnbough with 16 points and Kyan Anderson with 12 points. Preston McIntyre led the team in defensive rebounds, a major assist to the team. Next week, the Eagles face the Cougars of Central Lutheran Christian School. Go Eagles!

7/8th Boys
The 7/8th Eagles opened their season with a bang! In their season opener against the Pathway Panthers, they quickly jumped out to a 14-4 lead by the end of the first quarter. They dominated the game, winning 52-17. Leading scorers were Carter Smith with 12 points, Ayden Anderson with 9 points, and Isaac Greazel with 8 points. Last night, the Eagles hosted their first home game against the Patriots of Isaac Newton Christian School. In a matter of a minute, the Eagles bounced to a 10-0 lead. The Eagle defense denied the Patriots many points for the rest of the game giving Heritage an impressive 50-11 victory over the Patriots. Leading scorers were Ayden Anderson with 11 points, Rylen Schweitzer with 8 points, and Carter Smith with 8 points. Next week, the Eagles travel to Newhall to take on the Central Lutheran Cougars. Go Eagles!!
