Enjoy the times

These are busy days for sure, but enjoy them. Make the most of every opportunity you have to interact with people at parties, church functions, dinners, etc... Last year, because of Covid, I missed all the Christmas celebrations. This year, my entire family already got together to celebrate Christmas, Thanksgiving, and some birthdays. We were fortunate to have family from Michigan, Minnesota, and Southern CA gather for a few short days just last month. We often don't know what we have until it's gone. Instead of complaining how busy we are, be in the moment. Enjoy. It might not come again.

Yours in Christ,

Jim Smith, President

Required AB-506 for Pastors

Beginning in January 2022, California law requires pastors and those who work with youth to take child abuse mandated reporter training. You may take the free training provided online by the government (2 hours for regular volunteers, 4 hours for staff/admins, 6 hours for clergy).

But we have an alternate choice for your consideration. PCN has worked out a deal with Kingdom One so you can take their shorter course (60 minutes for volunteers, 90 minutes for staff/admins /clergy) for a small, discounted rate through Kingdom One Academy. Use the code (PCN). Their courses do satisfy the legal requirements for AB-506 training.

Fortaleza Whittier Joins PCN

This Spanish congregation of the Plymouth Church in Whittier is approximately 150-people strong. They recently joined PCN because their pastor, Edgardo Moreno, had attended many PCN events in the past and enjoyed the training, fellowship, and connection opportunities. Welcome Fortaleza.

Palm Springs Revitalization

Under the leadership of the outgoing pastor, Perry White, Palm Springs Baptist Church has asked PCN to revitalize their church. They have given PCN all leadership responsibilities to find a new pastor and basically start a new church. Currently PCN has identified a strong candidate for senior pastor and is working with the transition team in Palm Springs. PCN has also helped them update their website.

Small Church Conference

Monday & Tuesday, May 1-2

If you are a small church leader, this is an encouraging and helpful conference. PCN partners with Transformation Ministries for this event. Save the date and bring your spouse. Did you know over 2/3 of American churches have a worship attendance under 100?

Brotherhood Mutual

Brotherhood has given every church in our network free access to their online Safety Library, which offers guidance on almost every risk a ministry could face.

Also, check out the Deacon's Bench Newsletter that Brotherhood has posted on our national network's welcome page (Venture Church Network). Reading this resource could help every church in our association better defend itself against hidden dangers. It offers tips on how to outsmart cyber scammers, protect electronics against power surges, and develop training scenarios for volunteer church security teams. Use the link below to download your free copy and access the Safety Library.

Isaiah 9:6-7 (NIV)

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this.

Wishing You a Very Merry Christmas!
