Behavior and the Individualized Education Program

What is a Behavior Intervention Plan?

A Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) is a formal plan intended to increase positive behaviors and decrease behaviors that are negatively affecting learning. A behavior intervention plan gives strategies to teachers and classroom staff to assist the student in triggering situations.

Who has a Behavior Intervention Plan?

A BIP may be necessary if behavior is significantly impacting your child’s learning.

Who makes decisions about a Behavior Intervention Plan?

The Individualized Education Plan (IEP) team is responsible for considering if a BIP is appropriate for your child.
