Psychology Training Program Wins CCaPPTC Award

Psychology Training Program

We are proud to share that our URMC Clinical Psychology Doctoral Internship and Postdoctoral Fellowship program recently received the Program Excellence in Training Award from the Clinical Child and Pediatric Psychology Training Council (CCaPPTC). Janeen Thompson Named CCW Assistant Director for Business Administration

We are pleased to share that Janeen Thompson will be transitioning to the role of Assistant Director of Business Administration for our Division of Collaborative Care and Wellness. This position continues the work in fiscal management and administrative operations that Janeen has been supporting in the interim since the Fall. READ MORE>>>

February Faculty Awards

Myra Mathis, MD was recently awarded the “Courage to Heal Award” from the Thomas Jefferson University Hospital Department of Medicine.


This award honors pioneers in compassionate and patient-centered care. Dr. Mathis presented the Courage to Heal Medicine Grand Rounds at Thomas Jefferson University in early February as part of the award ceremony.

Annabel Fu, MD was also recently awarded the Association of Directors of Medical Student Education in Psychiatry’s Clinical Simulation Initiative Developmental Grant.


This competitive award will support the expansion of Dr. Fu’s earlier work as a University of Rochester Medical Center Dean’s Teaching Fellow.

What Can the Brain Tell Us About Chronic Pain?

Paul Geha, MD and the Geha Lab are looking at how brain imaging can improve understanding of chronic pain. In the latest episode of In a Neuro Minute, Dr. Geha discusses recent research into a brain biomarker that could predict long-term outcomes to lower-back pain.

Robert Smith Publishes New Book

Robert C. Smith, MD, MACP (Fellowship in Biopsychosocial Medicine, '80) recently published his new book, Has Medicine Lost Its Mind? This book discusses how the current medical system compartmentalizes physical and mental health and the need for medical education reform. Dr. Smith also appeared on several podcasts to discuss his research, including the Christina Crowe Podcast: Making the Invisible Visible and the Noggin Notes Podcast.
