Show Your Support for #RenterRightsDay1
Cleveland housing advocates and organizations are working together to ask the next Mayor of Cleveland to take immediate action to protect renters on their first day in office. Do we have your support?
Together, the Fair Housing Center for Rights & Research, Lutheran Metropolitan Ministry, Enterprise Community Partners, Neighborhood Connections, and the Northeast Ohio Coalition for the Homeless are urging the next mayor of Cleveland to Protect Cleveland Renters on Day One.

This includes immediately introducing legislation that would end Source of Income discrimination, advance Pay-to-Stay protections, and establish a group to develop a comprehensive Renter Bill of Rights.

These actions will help to ensure no Clevelander is denied housing because of how they plan to pay for rent, provide protections so no resident is unfairly evicted, and give a much-needed voice to Cleveland renters. In a city where renters make up 60% of households, these protections are life-changing and necessary.

As a supporter of fair housing rights, can we count on you to sign onto this petition that urges mayoral candidates Justin Bibb and Kevin Kelley to Protect Renters on Day One?
Fair Housing Collaborative Discusses Housing Issues Faced by Refugees
In September, members of the Northeast Ohio Fair Housing Collaborative met to discuss the unique housing issues faced by refugees, and heard from experts in the refugee services field. Peter Simionides of USCRI Cleveland and Andrew Mathay of Catholic Charities Diocese of Cleveland's Migration and Refugee Services were the featured speakers for the month's meeting. We appreciate the important work that is being done by local resettlement agencies and want to elevate the voices and experiences of refugees who face housing challenges because of their national origin or refugee status.

Visit our website for more information on fair housing protections related to national origin and ancestry.

IT’S TIME TO ADDRESS REENTRY HOUSING NEEDS
Posted on July 27, 2021

Across the U.S., more than 600,000 people are released from state and federal prisons each year. Unfortunately, barriers to housing make it difficult — and sometimes nearly impossible — for many returning citizens to find a home to return to. But local reentry housing advocates, as well as the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, are working to change this.
