St. Nick’s Market Opens at Berkeley Art Works
Ho, ho, ho my goodness!! The Berkeley Arts Council’s St. Nick’s Market is opened for business on Wednesday November 23, 2022 and will run through Friday December 30, 2022. The gallery at the Berkeley Art Works, 116 N. Queen Street, Martinsburg, is transformed into a festive holiday market displaying the work of local and regional artists and artisans as well as their year ‘round co-op artists. There’s a variety of items for great selection and fun shopping: a mix of fine art and craft items for the home, including ceramics, glass, wood, photography, painting, and mixed media; holiday cards, and clocks - all thoughtfully made!
The Berkeley Arts Council has been holding a holiday market since 2010. Originally called the “Holiday Art & Craft Market”, it was held at 116 N. Queen Street before the space became the Arts Council’s official headquarters. Now in its 13th year, St. Nick’s Market has become a regular holiday shopping destination for the community. In keeping with the Berkeley Arts Council’s mission to “Amplify the Arts”, one goal of St. Nick’s Market is to acquaint the community with artists from around the region. Throughout the year, the St. Nick’s planning committee keeps their eye out for potential artists. By creating an environment with variety, shoppers get to experience the wide range of creativity and talent that resides in the Eastern Panhandle.
Holiday hours are Wednesdays and Thursdays 11:00am to 5:00pm; Fridays 11:00am to 8:00pm; Saturdays 11:00am to 4:00pm and Sundays 12pm - 3pm.
For information, contact: Berkeley Arts Council at berkeleyartswv@gmail.com or 304-620-7277.

Authentic Community Theatre presents
A Christmas Story The Musical
At the Maryland Theatre
Saturday, December 3 at 7:00 PM
Sunday, December 4 at 3:00 PM
Authentic Community Theatre is Hagerstown’s professional theatre community ensemble and arts education organization. ACT’s programming on stage at The Maryland Theatre ranges from a performance of community theatre, musicals, junior productions, team productions, to youth theatre summer camp.
This musical, which received rave reviews on its Broadway run, is based on the movie classic that runs round-the-clock on television every Christmas. Set in the 1940s in the fictional town of Hohman, Indiana, the musical follows 9-year-old Ralphie Parker and his quest for the Holy Grail of Christmas gifts—an Official Red Ryder carbine-action 200-shot Range Model air rifle. Rebuffed at every turn with a similar echoing response, Ralphie plots numerous schemes to achieve his desperate desire for the coveted BB gun. All the iconic scenes from the movie are here: Ralphie's friend, Flick, getting his tongue stuck to the flagpole; his brother, Randy, getting dressed in his snowsuit; the bullies, Farkus and Dill; the leg lamp award; the bunny suit; Christmas dinner; and many others. The delightfully versatile score ranges from gentle ballads to show-stopping full-ensemble numbers such as "Ralphie to the Rescue!", "A Major Award," "Sticky Situation," "Up on Santa's Lap," "Somewhere Hovering Over Indiana" and the inevitable "You'll Shoot Your Eye Out!" A Christmas Story, The Musical will bring an exciting new dimension to those who have seen the movie and will certainly stand on its own for those who haven't.

Postmodern Jukebox:
A Very Postmodern Christmas
| |
Wednesday, December 7, 2022, at 7:30 PM
When New York City pianist Scott Bradlee created Postmodern Jukebox out of a basement in Queens in 2011, his goal was simple: to remake the pop hits of today into the classic sounds of the legends of yesterday. Miley Cyrus became The Platters. Bruno Mars became Frank Sinatra. The Spice Girls became The Andrews Sisters. Guns ’n’ Roses became Bessie Smith.
Now, nearly a decade later, Postmodern Jukebox has grown to become a pop culture mainstay in its own right, having played over a thousand shows on six continents worldwide — including acclaimed venues like Radio City Music Hall, Sydney Opera House, and Red Rocks Amphitheater. In the process, PMJ has introduced audience to many of the world’s greatest singers, dancers, and instrumentalist — many of whom have gone on to become stars in their own right.
One part celebration of vintage music and culture, one part “’Saturday Night Live’ for singers”, a Postmodern Jukebox show is an unforgettable trip back in time that makes Pop Music History — in your own hometown.

This exhibition is from the collection of the Richard H. Driehaus Museum and is organized by Landau Traveling Exhibitions. Celtic Angels Christmas
| |
Thursday, December 15, 2022 at 7:00 PM
Celtic Angels Christmas is a joyous celebration from start to finish, encompassing vocal and instrumental Holiday and Irish favourites. Paired with show stopping world class champion Irish dancing and a fully live band, Celtic Angels Christmas is sure to awe and entertain. Starring the quintessential vocals of Louise Barry, Olivia Bradley, Michaela Groth, Katie Sweeney and Chloe Haven.
These dynamic divas enthrall and delight with their jaw dropping performances and spine tingling harmonies. The musical arrangements by Peter Sheridan (Cavan, Celtic Thunder) ingeniously marries the old and new worlds with traditional and contemporary Irish and Holiday tunes. Brought to life by the immensely talented Trinity Ensemble.
Hands will be clapping and toes will be tapping. Under the watchful eye of Assistant Director, Sarah Costello (Belfast, ADCRG), the Celtic Knight Dancers seem to defy gravity as they command the stage with their powerful, percussive presence. Written, directed and choreographed by Dublin native, Louise Barry (Dublin, The Diddley Idols / National Theatre) this wonderfully nostalgic journey will having you dashing through the snow to the local snugs of Ireland, where a step is expected, sing alongs are mandatory and good craic is had by all.
