A Day in the Life as the Head of School and a Security Guard
Friday and Monday, the Pece girls, Blythe (K5 Blue) and Haven (1 Green), had the opportunity of a lifetime as they became the Head of School and a Security Guard for a day. On Friday, Security Guard, Angel Bellon accompanied both girls to help with arrival at Carpool. They carried their walkie talkies, and made sure the school was safe throughout the day. On Monday, Mr. Anna accompanied them at arrival, and they had the opportunity to lead the morning announcements with the fifth-graders and the super seniors. Right after, they checked the donut flavors in the staff lounge. Yum! Haven headed off to Sports Fest while Blythe judged the fifth-grade Food Truck Challenge. In the end, each girl had a special Head of School treat for each of their classes. Each class had a juice box and snacks to enjoy with their classmates.
Morning Announcements
QU Wedding
K4 families dressed in their best for the QU Wedding. They watched as Q married U in an outside ceremony with picnic, song and dance, and each family brought a "wedding" gift to donate to Advent Health.
Science and Social Studies
K4
Science and Social studies teacher, Ms. Rudolph created a magical experience in her classroom by live streaming with her class and the whole school as we all waited for the chicks to hatch! It was an exciting experience for all. "The chicks were so fluffy and cute", AJ Scarlato said. Ms. Rudolph's sweet chicks are now back on the farm.
1st Grade
Dr. Elizabeth Feldman (mom of Gabriel in 1 Green) showed us how she is able to provide implants and prosthetics for her patients. The class was able to make some molds of their own.
Homeroom
2nd Grade
2 Blue had a few special visitors in Ms. Schnitker's class, Mrs. Sheikh (mom of Simra) and her sister taught the class about Ramadan. Simra read a book explaining the Muslim holy month. Afterwards, the class participated in a fun activity.
Book Swap
This week in Ms. Talbert's Library class, students are enjoying Book Swap. For two months students had the opportunity to turn in books to earn book bucks and exchange them for "new" books for the month of May.
Brownie Troop #1738
This past weekend second-grade Brownie Troop #1738 went on their first over-night trip at Disney’s Ft. Wilderness. Each girl earned their Outdoor Journey Award, which includes the Brownie First Aid, Hiker and Cabin Camper Badges. They made G.O.R.P (good old-fashioned raisins and peanuts), navigated and conquered a small hike with the right gear, swam, tie-dyed shirts, prepared a troop meal and toasted s’mores. They ended their campout with a Take-Action Project and promise of helping to provide the right habitat for butterflies at each of their homes by starting their own butterfly gardens. The project coincides with a recent completion of a bug badge and a new love for butterflies.
Sports Fest
Sports Fest continued this week with our first, fourth, and fifth grades. "My favorite event was the 40-yard dash because I like to see who is the fastest girl and boy. I also was happy with third place", Lily L. said. "The steeplechase was definitely one of my favorites. It was hard, but getting to do hurdles was very fun. I hope we do it next year", Skyler G. said. "My favorite event was the tug of war because I always like to see the amazing teamwork and you get to find out who's the tallest and shortest", Shreya said.
