Together, We Did It

We are so grateful to everyone who joined us for our first-ever Kindness Matters Walkathon at the end of September as a kickoff to Kindness Matters Week. What a showing by the Staunton community! You gave over $2,800 to support our kindness initiative, walked or ran 2,575 laps around the SHS track and spread lots of kindness and good vibes throughout our community. Our thanks to you and our local sponsors for the generous support!

McSwain Wins Most Laps Overall

With 686 laps completed, McSwain Elementary won the title of Most Walkathon Laps.

Dixon Wins Most Laps Per Capita

Bring Your Coins for Kindness

Throughout October, you can join us in our Coins for Kindness drive supporting Jones Gardens. Their community gardens have enriched the Staunton community and our schools with gardening education and interactive cooking demonstrations.

Drop your loose change in the Coins for Kindness jars in your school's front office. The school that collects the most coins will get the KIND sign, pictured here, displayed in front of their school for a month!

Next, we'll collect Coins for Kindness for Project Grows in February and Shenandoah Green in April. Thank you for being #StauntonKIND.

They're hard at work practicing the piece written just for their special performance at the Virginia Music Educators Association conference on November 16. Staunton City Schools alum Joe Jaxson wrote the piece and visited the class last week to hear their first run-through. This is the band's second week of practice, and they are making great progress. We can't wait to see them shine next month!
