Foundation Events at Cary Library

On Saturday, March 18th, the Lexington STEAM Youth Team is hosting an exciting opportunity at Cary Library. Students have the chance to design a website for the Cary Library Foundation's fundraising efforts for the Library's Children's Room Renovation Project (ChiRP!) Cary Library Foundation Board Member Dr. Wei Ding and her students will provide tutorials and mentoring. Students will have the opportunity to put their new skills to the test in designing an innovative and user-friendly web design for the Foundation's fundraising efforts for ChiRP!

This event is a great opportunity for students to learn new skills, meet other students with similar interests, and contribute to an important and meaningful community project. This event is made possible in partnership with the Cary Library Foundation.

Science Café: Looking for Signs of Interstellar Intelligent Life.

Abraham (Avi) Loeb is the Frank B. Baird, Jr., Professor of Science at Harvard University, founding director of Harvard's Black Hole Initiative, director of Harvard's Institute for Theory and Computation and the leader of the Galileo Project. In 2012, Time Magazine selected Avi as one of the twenty-five most influential people in space. In this Science Café, we will learn about Avi's early influences and discuss the Galileo Project, an expedition to retrieve and identify astro-archeological artifacts.

From Our Board President

March is Women’s History Month and we are offering various programs highlighting the significant role women have played in Lexington and beyond.  Early this month, author Zhuqing Li presented her new novel ‘Daughters of the Flower Fragrant Garden,’ describing the journey of her two aunts who were separated when China split apart in 1949. On March 23, we will host a women in fiction celebration with a panel of esteemed, global authors discussing how writing about women’s lives impacts women’s future.

And, for all of you Irish at heart, 'Erin Go Braugh!'
