ANNOUNCEMENTS & EVENTS
Clothing Needed
Showers of Blessings is in need of men’s gently used or new jeans, shoes (hiking or athletic), belts, and t-shirts. If you would like to donate any items, please drop them in the donations bin on Sundays or bring them to the office during the week. We also encourage you to ask your neighbors if they have any items to donate.
St. Andrew's Supports Refugees
Thursdays
If you don't think a few people can make a difference, read on. When our parishioner Carolyn Lee read a post on Nextdoor about local moms supporting Afghan refugees in a motel in Carmel Valley, she wondered if St. Andrew’s could help. Under Annie Heyliger’s leadership, our food pantry is so organized and resilient that it was able to absorb the unexpected increase of delivering food weekly to about 50 people. If anyone knows of 4-5 bedroom rentals for less than $4000/mo., please text Carolyn at 858-442-1788.
Saturday Breakfast Help Needed
Starting Saturday, May 7
After over two years of making sack lunches, the meal teams are transitioning back to providing a hot, full course brunch for our friends receiving services on Saturday mornings. We're looking forward to providing a welcoming experience that nourishes body and soul, but we need some additional help in the kitchen. Table setter, dishwasher, server, and many other positions are available! Please join us on Saturday mornings from 8 to 11:30 am; we are especially in need of volunteers on the second and third Saturdays of each month. Contact Gigi Miller to join a team!
Deep Dive Book Group
Wednesdays, 7 pm
Plan to join the Deep Dive Book Group to discuss our new book! The incarnation has made mystics of us all. What if we read the gospels as if that were true? In his book Contemplating Christ, Episcopal priest Vincent Pizzuto offers an exploration of the interior life that is as beautiful as it is compelling. The link to the Zoom meeting is available on our website. Be sure to read chapter 3 for next week's meeting.
New Member & Confirmation Class
Starting May 1, 11 am
Whether you are new to the Episcopal Church, have just joined St. Andrew’s, or would like to be confirmed or received, this class is for you! Join us for an Episcopal 101 course during the first four Sundays of May. For more information, contact Mother Brenda.
Understanding Communion
Sunday May 15 & June 19, 11 am
The Eucharist is unique in that it is not just a story that we tell or a service that we attend, but an experience that we have together as a community. This year, we are excited to offer a special intergenerational class to help you move deeper into the mystery of this holy meal. You can participate in this 1 hour class either on May 15th or June 19th  at 11:00am. This class is for parents and children who would like to increase their understanding of Communion, all others who would like to heighten their experience with this sacrament, and is a requirement for the Adult Confirmation class. Attendees will receive a special blessing during Bishop Susan’s visit on June 26th and children will receive a special gift. Please RSVP to Erin O’Brien and feel free to contact her with any questions.
Vacation Bible School Registration
Registration for VBS 2022 is open! We're so excited to be working with Bethlehem Lutheran to provide a fun and enriching experience for the children of both of our parishes. Click here to fill out the online registration form. Contact Constance Mithelman for more information.
This Week in Sunday School
This week in Sunday School we will retell the Resurrection story and draw the children deeper into the Mystery of Easter. We will spend the rest of Eastertide telling the stories of Jesus’s appearances to his disciples. Don’t miss next week when Jesus appears to Mary Magdalene.
Share the Love!
People often look for the perfect place to worship on Easter, so let's make it easy for them to find St. Andrew's! Tell the world how much you enjoy being a part of this parish by writing a review here.
