Middle and High School Students
Enjoy Off-Campus Spiritual Retreats
Prince middle and high school students recently took a break from the rigors of academics and co-curricular activities to focus on their relationships with one another and with the Lord.
High school students and faculty enjoyed the beautiful setting of Woodlands Camp in Cleveland, Georgia. The retreat included corporate worship led by the Prince Praise Band and teaching led by guest speaker Anthony Knight. Middle school students and faculty traveled to Camp Westminster in Conyers, Georgia and enjoyed worship led by Matthew Smock and teaching led by Prince Avenue Baptist Church student pastor Jace Thomas.
Faculty members led small-group discussions where students shared thoughts regarding the teaching, encouraged one another, and prayed together. Students also enjoyed recreational activities and time to relax and have fun.

McGinn Sacrifices Race Time
to Help Fellow Competitor
Prince Avenue Christian School’s athletic rivalry with Athens Academy doesn’t get more competitive than in the week leading up to the annual backyard brawl football game between the two schools. Throughout the week, students at Prince anticipate the rivalry match-up by painting signs, preparing for the student section theme, and participating in a pep rally on the Friday morning of the game. Amid this year’s chaotic week, though, one PACS cross country runner humbled herself and helped an Athens Academy runner cross the finish line at their meet.
PACS senior Brittan McGinn has run cross country for four years. On Thursday, September 1st, the day before the rivalry football game, the PACS varsity cross country team competed alongside Athens Academy in a meet at North Oconee High School. According to Brittan, the Thursday afternoon meet was a big one, but after a false start, she dreaded the race.
The majority of the race went as usual for Brittan. As she neared the trail’s end, however, Athens Academy runner Louise Tilman tripped over a root on the ground and fell in front of Brittan. In a brief decision, Brittan bent down, picked Louise up by the elbow, and said, “Come on. Let’s finish this.” Brittan assisted Louise for a few minutes, and then they finished the race individually.

High School Presents One-Act Play
The Prince fine arts department recently performed the one-act version of Crazy for You. The musical follows a young man named Bobby Child (sophomore Dylan Capps) who dreams of being a performer and dancing on stage. His mother (junior Natalie Schroeder) and his self-proclaimed fiancé (senior Gracie Bahnsen) want him to work in the bank. To escape their nagging, Bobby goes to Deadrock, Nevada to collect money for a theatre whose owner has not been able to make its payments. It is there that Bobby meets and falls in love with Polly Baker (senior Kaylor Jones). She teaches him that life can be sunny if he has rhythm, music, and love.
Prince students will compete in Region One-Act Competition on Saturday, October 29th at Stillwell School of the Arts.

Cascella Tops 100 Aces for Season

Prince junior Kelsey Cascella logged 107 aces this varsity volleyball season. In volleyball, an ace is a serve that directly results in a point. Kelsey is in the top five in Georgia for single-A classification for this achievement.
Head Coach Morgan Garretson says that Kelsey has been diligent in her work. "We are so proud of Kelsey for reaching the 100 aces milestone mark this season. Serving requires incredible focus and repetition to do well, and Kelsey has worked hard to develop an aggressive serve that wins a lot of points."
