Help the Leprechaun fill the caboose
We are thrilled to share that the Lake Villa St. Patrick's Day parade is set to unfold on Saturday, March 15th, at noon in downtown Lake Villa. This cherished annual event not only embodies the joyous spirit of our community but also serves as a powerful reminder of our commitment to helping those in need. We warmly invite all attendees to join us in this noble cause by bringing a non-perishable food item to the parade, Additionally, cash donations will be warmly welcomed, enabling our food pantry to procure essential supplies from the Northern Illinois Food Bank at a remarkably low cost. As these generous contributions are collected along the parade route, they will be carefully placed in the Lake Villa Township Caboose float, symbolizing our united effort to uplift and support our local food pantry. Let us come together in celebration and compassion, making this parade not just a day of festivity, but also a beacon of hope for those who rely on our kindness.

Waste Hauling changes to LRS May 1, 2025
Effective May 1st, 2025, LRS will provide garbage, recycling, yard waste services for Unincorporated Lake Villa Township residents. Lake Villa Township is changing its waste hauler provider, ending a contract with Waste Management on April 30th. Lake Villa Township joined the Village of Lake Villa to solicit bids for waste hauling. The Township received sealed bids from Waste Connections, Inc. (Groot), Waste Management of Illinois Inc. and Lakeshore Recycling Systems, LLC. (LRS).
LRS won the current contract with a final bid of $26.52 for a 95-gallon container and $25.52 for a 65-gallon container. The new rate is more than 40% lower than the bid turned in by Waste Management and 11% lower than the bid turned in by Groot. However, the new contract from LRS is $3 higher than the current Waste Management contract in place.
The new Township contract, that will run through April 30, 2030, allowed the Township to add some additional services in the future as needed. “In the face of rising labor contracts and disposal costs, the Township is pleased to have secured a favorable price through April 2030,” Supervisor Dan Venturi said. “We look forward to our partnership with LRS to provide reliable and cost-effective waste management services to the community.”

Last Friday I had the privilege of participating in a remarkable presentation by Raymond Auto Group, who generously contributed again as the premier sponsorship check to support our popular Free Music in the Park event. It was a delightful gathering, with representatives from our community, including Lindenhurst Mayor Dominic Marturano, Lake Villa Mayor James McDonald, Lindenhurst Park District Director Dave Mohr, and Lake Villa District Library Adult Services Director Meg Schmaus, all coming together to celebrate this partnership. We were honored to accept this generous contribution from Mark Scarpelli of Raymond Auto Group, which will undoubtedly enhance the vibrant experiences we offer to our community.

The Lake County Clerk’s is changing to a vote center model for Election Day voting, offering increased accessibility, convenience, and efficiency for all voters in Lake County. Under this model, in the Consolidated Primary Election, Lake County voters will still be assigned a Preferred Election Day Voting Site but are no longer restricted to voting at that location. Instead, they can cast their ballot at any of the fully equipped vote centers located throughout Lake County, regardless of their residential address.
