It looks like the rain has finally stopped in Atlantic Canada and we are in our best stretch of weather of the season. Many places in the region have average rainfall amounts in the 300mm range for June, July, August, and September combined. This season most have surpassed 1000mm for the same time period.
Hurricane Lee landed as a tropical storm in mid-September and had the most impact on Western Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.

Looking at the 2023 golf season in the rearview mirror here in Alberta, most would say that it was a very good one. The spring started out with its challenges as many courses saw damage from the winter and numerous properties struggled to have enough water due to the dry spring. That quickly changed as the taps opened in central and northern Alberta and they never seemed to shut off. Properties in the Edmonton area that were buying water in May turned out to barely irrigate their properties through the remainder of the summer.

Another Year has Wrapped Up! The National Tournament schedule kicked off during the RBC Canadian Open in June in Toronto and wrapped up at the RBC PGA Scramble National Final in Cape Breton. This year CGSA recognized 25 members throughout the summer who hosted these events. To see member profiles and photos taken during these tournaments, please click here. These presentations and photos that were provided to CGSA would not have taken place without the help and support from Golf Canada, the PGA of Canada, and the PGA TOUR Canada. For that, CGSA is very grateful for their support!

Course Aeration - Fall Maintenance
Dean Piller, AGS, shares an article he prepared for his club newsletter - Forward Press. This past week, very important course maintenance occurred in order to ensure our turf is in tip top shape leading into the colder months. Aerating our greens and fairways is a big job and required us to close for an entire day. I am grateful for our team and for the long hours each individual put in.
