Panthers are you sharing your talents too?

Halloween Costumes!

Students are invited to celebrate Halloween on Monday, October 31 by wearing their favorite costume. No masks, weapons or look alike weapons are permitted. In addition, no inflatable costumes of any kind are allowed. Finally, while make-up may be used, you must still be recognizable by staff.

School Vision &

Hearing Screening Notification 

On Wednesday, November 16 and Friday, November 18, we will have vision and hearing screenings for grades 9, 11 and our transfer students in the Nurse's Clinic. Students will be called down throughout the day. Please see the attached informational sheet from PSI. The Ohio Department of Health (ODH) requires us to hold these screenings yearly. If you have any questions or choose to opt-out, please contact Julie McCann, MA via email nurse@elyriacatholic.com.


Schedule Change

In order to maximize instructional time with students while allowing the EC faculty the opportunity of working with an instructional coach, we will implement a schedule change. Science classes with a lab, health, and personal finance will be implementing a schedule change for the remainder of the academic year beginning Monday, October 31. Students will attend their lab periods on consecutive days and have their health, personal finance, or study hall on the remaining days of the week. Please consult your student's schedule in Progressbook for these changes.

Friday Night Under the Lights

The OHSAA Division 4, Region 14 first round of football playoffs is Friday, October 28 at 7:00 p.m. at Dan Reaser Stadium. The Elyria Catholic Panthers will take on the Bryan High School Golden Bears.

All students, faculty, staff, parents, and guests will need to purchase a ticket by clicking on the OHSAA website or scanning the QRCode below. Adult admission is $10 and student admission (K-12) are $8.00. Children 5 and under are free.

FACTS Grant & Aid Applications

The application window is open for completing the FACTS Grant & Aid application. Families who will have freshman during the 2023-24 school year should complete the application by November 15 in order to receive financial aid information by the end of December.


Click on FACTS Grant & Aid application to apply. Please note - if you will not have a freshman next year, please wait to complete the application until after you have completed your 2022 income taxes.

Inside the Panther Classroom

On Tuesday, Oct. 25 the Foods and Nutrition classes took part in the Egg Challenge. Mr. Reaser '81 and Mr. Humphreys were the judges in one of the classes. The winning sandwich in this class was the "Spicy Idaho." Congratulations to the winners and thank you to our judges, includeing Mrs. Essenmacher and Ms. Gerace who judged in an earlier class. They all enjoyed a delicious lunch on Tuesday, compliments of our Panther Chefs.

Turn 10 extra cash raffle tickets into 10-bucks in gift cards!

For each extra book of cash raffle tickets that you sell, you will receive a $10 gift card to one of these three locations: Dunkin Donuts, Chipotle, or Jersey Mike's. Sell 20 extra tickets and get 2 gift cards! Sell 30 extra and get 3! And so on. Students may stop by Mrs. Essenmacher's office to get more tickets. The $10,000 Grand Prize drawing will be held on Friday, December 9!

College Application Workshop

The Counseling Department will be hosting a College Application Workshop to assist any seniors that need help with their college applications. Please join us tomorrow, Oct. 27 in the Center for Student Excellence after school until 4pm to work on your application. We hope to see you then!

Succeeding in College as a First-Gen Student Webinar

Tuesday, Nov. 8@ 8pm

Are you the first in your family to attend college? Join us to hear from admissions counselors and current students who were first-generation college students themselves. They’ll share insight and guidance on the admissions process, as well as how to be successful in college. Hear their stories and ask your questions.

Health Career Day at LCCC

Some of our seniors attended Health Career Day at LCCC on October 21.  Panthers were a part of breakout sessions where they talked with Dental Hygiene Presenters and Occupational Therapy Assistants. Our students had a successful introduction to those fields. We are grateful to LCCC for this opportunity.

HOBY Leadership Conference

Each year Elyria Catholic sends 2 sophomores to attend the conference. Students must apply by writing an essay about why they would like to go and how they could benefit from the conference. Essays will be reviewed by a committee of teachers/staff and chosen based on their essay. One student will receive a full scholarship to attend this conference and another student will receive a partial scholarship for this conference. APPLICATIONS ARE DUE NOVEMBER 14.

Knights of Columbus Scholarship


The Ohio Charity Foundation, Inc. and the Ohio Knights of Columbus are pleased to announce that, for the 2022-2023 school year, many $1,000 scholarships will once again be made available for Catholic students (grades nine through twelve) attending Catholic High Schools in Ohio. Career Development Month


In November, the Counseling Department in conjunction with our Career Coach, Mrs. Mey will be going into classrooms to work with students on future planning for Career Development Month. One resource we will introduce to students is called Raise Me. Please see attached letter about Raise Me and reach out to your student's counselor if you have any concerns or questions.
