An Appeal to Plant for the Future
The Newport Tree Conservancy needs your support. We cannot plant and care for our shared forest without you. Please consider a contribution to the Newport Tree Conservancy and join us in our mission to plant for the future.

Thanks to our supporters, we were able to meet all of our goals for 2022:

Purchased every tree planted on public property in Newport
Subsidized over 80 trees planted by private citizens
Planted 100 new trees in Miantonomi Park
Preserved the legacies of 20+ historic trees throughout town
Built education programs at Pell, Thompson, Rogers, MLKCC, & East Bay Met

Friends, it’s that time of year again, where we must join the chorus of worthy and important organizations asking for your financial support. Newport would not be the same without its trees or supporters like you.
2022 NTC Youth Programs:
Growing Strong!
Over this past year, NTC’s youth programs have engaged 521 students and 69 teachers and youth leaders. Youth program partners in 2022 have included Pell Elementary, Thompson Middle School, Rogers High School, East Bay Met School, Newport Boys & Girls Club, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center, and Salve Regina University. Youth activities included school day, after school, and summer programming, along with volunteer opportunities. NTC’s Program Director, Rachel Holbert, designed and implemented 65 total hours of youth programming.

NTC programs encourage students to get outside and connect with their urban forest in hands-on, experiential ways. Miantonomi Park and Ballard Park were favorite spots for youth programming this year, in addition to the trees and green spaces around schools and community centers. Programs will continue through the winter and into 2023!
Season of Giving & Growth

At this time of year we often find ourselves reflecting on the significance of caring, community, and generosity.

In the season of giving and holding these ideals close, consider gifting something unique: a donation to the Newport Tree Conservancy in honor of someone dear. Donations help support various initiatives including youth education and public programs, adding to our community's urban canopy, preserving historic trees, and more!

A Tree Lover's Travel Tales: Trees and Shrubs of England

Saturday December 1oth
11:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Virtual Program - Free

Join NTC for a virtual journey to the southern portion of England to view some of the wonderful cultivated woody plants growing there. England is widely known for its rich horticultural history, extraordinary gardens, and majestic trees. Joe Verstandig, NTC’s Living Collections Manager, was lucky enough to visit and document some of his experiences and observations with the purpose of sharing. We'll take a look at some of the plants growing in the English urban forest, unforgettable garden visits, plants grown by the royals, and much more!

Commemorative Trees
Over the past year, 13 new tree plantings were sponsored in Newport thanks to the generosity of community members seeking to commemorate a special occasion or memorialize a loved one.
