SB13 - We’ve informed you previously on Senate Bill 13, the bill that would make New Mexico a beacon in our country for abortion and transgender services. But the bill has gotten worse; much worse.
In the Senate Judiciary committee, this bill was completely reworked and passed as a committee substitute bill. This bill now includes language that will strip freedom of speech from ANY individual in New Mexico. The new language prohibits any electronic communication from any individual or entity that will discuss any “protect health activity” protected under HB7 (ie., abortion or transgender procedures) if that communication is in anyway deterring from using these protected health activities.
Realistically, this bill silences electronic pro-life speech. Our pro-life organizations that want to help educate families on the dangers of abortion or transgender services, will be silenced. Freedom of Speech is striped. Organizations or individuals who continue this means of communication via electronic transfer (ie., emails, social media, etc.) will find themselves fighting through litigation to be able to practice their freedom of speech in New Mexico.
