Well-deserved recognition!
Betty Harrison, one of the founding members of IPWMAN, retired from the Village of Lake Zurich at the end of October. During her career, she represented the Villages of Wauconda and Lake Zurich as their liaisons to IPWMAN. She also served on the regional board of directors and held the offices of vice president, president and past president. As a duty officer, she helped to coordinate IPWMAN responses for mutual aid and wrote the first copy of IPWMAN Policies and Procedures.

Other members recognized for their years of service were Barb Stiehl, City of Urbana, who was IPWMAN’s first secretary/treasurer. She also served as vice president and as the liaison with the State SEOC and ITTF. Members of the regional board of directors Kent Cox, City of Macomb, and Sean Henry, City of Carbondale, have both accepted new positions in the private sector. Past president Don Wenzel was also honored.

Thank you, IPWMAN!

“On behalf of the staff and crew at South Elgin Public Works, I would like to thank IPWMAN for their support in setting up the Public Works Honor Guard for the funeral procession for our crew member, Dave Martin. We received responses from 45 different agencies to come stand with us. Many of those responses to the call for trucks came to us after the news was shared through IPWMAN. Dave’s family was incredibly touched by the display of appreciation for him and his 32 years in Public Works. It was a powerful sight and we could not have done it without you – thanks again.”

Three BIG reasons to update/verify your contact information with us.
Many of our member agencies experience changeovers in personnel. It’s extremely important that we have the most up-to-date information on file in the event you need assistance.

WHY?

1) Our duty officers need accurate information to verify membership and coordinate response efforts quickly.
2) Having primary AND back-up contacts gives responding agencies a start on who can direct them to staging areas and work assignments. At times, the primary contact person may be called away to deal with personal losses or to get rest after working long hours. A back-up contact is needed to keep recovery efforts moving forward.
3). Correct contact information allows us to reach out to you regarding activations, training opportunities, active threats and other important information.

To verify your emergency contact information with us, email Sarah Harbaugh at info@ipwman.org.
