March Birthstone
Aquamarine
| |
The exquisite hue of the Aquamarine gemstone belongs to the beryl family. This striking and transparent stone is often confused with blue topaz. Traditionally recognized as the birthstone for March, Aquamarine symbolizes youth, hope, and health. It also serves as the gemstone for the 19th wedding anniversary and is associated with the astrological sign Pisces. Its color spectrum ranges from light to dark blue, occasionally exhibiting a bluish-green tint. The cool tones of Aquamarine complement metals such as sterling silver, white gold, and yellow gold beautifully. Known as "Water of the Sea," this gemstone was historically favored by sailors who believed it offered protection and safe passage across waters. The name Aquamarine is derived from Latin, signifying water and sea, and it is said to have originated from the treasure chests of mermaids, reputedly bringing good fortune to sailors and alleviating seasickness. The concept of crystals conducting and transforming energy is well-established, as evidenced by their use in technology like televisions and quartz clocks. Aquamarine is believed to enhance self-confidence, emotional control, tolerance, and understanding. Wearing Aquamarine earrings is thought to attract love and affection. This gemstone is primarily sourced from countries such as Russia and Brazil, with Colorado designating it as their official state gem.

Elizabeth Taylor’s Diamond Bracelet
Outshines Estimate at U.K. Auction
The auction also featured the sale of a Cartier necklace made when Egyptomania was sweeping Great Britain.

Salisbury, England—A diamond line bracelet that once belonged to Elizabeth Taylor, gifted to her by Michael Jackson, sold for £118,750 ($147,480) at a jewelry auction in the United Kingdom.
Auction house Woolley & Wallis said the piece, which was estimated to sell for £50,000 to £70,000 (approximately $61,000-$86,000), attracted competitive bidding both on the phones and online, ultimately going to a phone bidder.
Said to be one of the Oscar-winning actress’ favorite pieces, the bracelet features 27 graduated step-cut yellow diamonds.
“It was a strong sale, and we are delighted that many pieces exceeded their higher estimates, demonstrating that high quality jewelry is still in demand and the market is buoyant,” said Marielle Whiting, jewelry specialist at Woolley & Wallis.

The Cartier necklace features a pendant pavé set with circular-cut diamonds holding an abstract floral arrangement of cabochon rubies mounted in platinum and gold. It hangs from a chain of black onyx beads.
Also featured in the sale was an Art Deco necklace from a limited-edition Cartier collection of Egyptian Revival pieces.
The piece, featuring rubies and diamonds, sold for £68,750 ($85,218), more than twice its highest pre-sale estimate of £30,000 (approximately $37,189).
The necklace was rediscovered after being privately owned for a century.
In their research, specialists from Woolley & Wallis matched the pendant to a Cartier necklace from a 1920s print ad for the special collection.
The jeweler had created the pieces in reaction to the wave of Egyptomania sweeping Great Britain at that time, the auction house said.
Two years earlier, British archaeologist Howard Carter had discovered of the tomb of Tutankhamun, the famous ancient Egyptian pharaoh better known as King Tut, inspiring interest in Ancient Egypt.
The ad ran alongside information about the discovery in a January 1924 edition of The Illustrated London News.
The specialists confirmed the necklace bore the same Cartier Londres signature and a similar number sequence (S.L7352) as two other pieces from the same ad that went up for auction in New York in 2013 (S.L7358 and S.L7353).
| |
In the ad the necklace features an Egyptian faience figurine of Nefertem. The distinctive U-shaped base with hooked motifs at each side was designed to resemble the silhouette of the beaded usekh necklaces that adorn mummies and sarcophagi, the auction house said.
While the pendant in the ad shows the necklace set with a figurine of Nefertem, the one offered at the U.K. auction features an abstract floral arrangement.
There are many reasons Cartier may have changed it, the auction house said, but it could have been an effort to tone down the Egyptian influence as desire for the style dissipated.

Argenti Designer Jewelers Creates Jewelry Designs With Mined Diamonds And Lab Grown Diamonds.
This Depends On The Clients Request.
Information Below About Lab Grown Diamonds
Mark Silver at Argenti Designer Jewelers designs in both mined and lab grown diamonds. Both diamond collections of bracelets, rings, necklaces and earrings are available in solid 14K yellow or white gold.
Lab-grown diamonds are diamonds with the same crystal structure, chemical composition, and physical properties as the mined rocks, their carbon atoms are arranged in a cubic crystal structure.
With the advancement in technology through the years, our lab-grown diamonds have the same crystal structure, chemical composition and physical properties as mined diamonds.
Lab Grown Diamond is the same as a mined diamond and an affordable luxury for all.
These diamonds are grown in labs, with advanced technological processes that stimulate and create the same conditions under which mined diamonds develop when they form in the mantle, beneath the Earth’s crust.
Lab grown diamonds looks exactly the same as mined diamonds, and the only difference is the origin of the creation. One being mined from the inner Earth and the other created in labs.
The lab diamonds are more environmentally friendly and an option to purchasing mined diamonds.
Lab Grown Diamonds Process
The easy process of creating a lab grown diamond begins with a thin slice of diamond seed that is placed in a sealed chamber. The chamber is filled with carbon rich-gas, such as Methane, and are ionized into plasma using lasers/microwaves technologies. Then the molecular bonds in the gases are broken and the pure carbon slowly crystallizes and sticks to the diamond seed. This process will take between 6-10 weeks to form a lab grown diamond.
We have laser-inscribed certification numbers on larger lab diamonds that are visible under a microscope.
In addition, our mined diamonds are graded and certified by GIA – Gemological Institute of America
as our assurance of excellent quality.
Our lab-grown diamonds are graded using the standard 4Cs method of assessing diamond quality. They all come with a certification of authenticity grading report. We provide the International Gemological Institute (IGI) certification for larger diamonds. Identification is important to us and is always a representation of our quality jewelry.
