NEW: The St. Mark's Theater Department Proudly Presents…
Puffs
Or Seven Increasingly Eventful Years
at a Certain School of Magic and Magic
A play by Matt Cox.

When? November 17, 18, & 19 @ 7:00 p.m. (This Wednesday-Friday night!)

Where? Black Box Theater

What? This clever and inventive play gives the audience a new look at “seven increasingly eventful years at a certain school of magic and magic” from the perspective of three potential heroes just trying to make it through a magic school that proves to be very dangerous for children. Alongside them are the Puffs, a group of well-meaning, loyal outsiders with a thing for badgers. Their hilariously heartfelt and epic journey takes the classic story to new places and reimagines what a boy wizard hero can be.

How? To attend, please email Mr. Kent (christopherkent@stmarksschool.org) and reserve tickets. It's free, but there is limited seating available each night for 100 lucky people. Preference will be given to those who reserve seats in advance. Note: Masks are required for all audience members. All visitors should adhere to the St. Mark’s visitor policy. Strobe lights will be used in the production, and this play contains profanity. Students, please sign out via Orah and alert your dorm head/duty faculty before you attend. Please arrive on time. NO LATE ADMISSION.

College Counseling News

NEW: Class of 2024, Practice ACT Exam on Saturday, December 11
Parents and students, please read this form. To provide students with the opportunity to experience the other major standardized test used in college admissions, we will be offering IV Formers a practice ACT exam on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at 8:00 a.m. (There is no St. Mark’s Saturdays programming that day, and students who take the practice test will not miss any school commitments.) Giving students an opportunity to experience both SAT- and ACT-style standardized tests at this relatively early stage allows us to help them assess whether one test better suits their learning and/or testing style and to more intentionally guide their testing plans moving forward. Students will receive an email with a link to sign up.

NEW: Team of the Week: Varsity Girls' Soccer
The varsity girls' soccer team hosted #3 league-ranked Thayer Academy last Wednesday on Thayer field. The Lions came out on fire against the Tigers, putting pressure on their defense and creating multiple scoring opportunities. The St. Mark's defense denied Thayer's attacks over and over again. In the twelfth minute, Erin O'Keefe '22 sent a direct kick into the box, which deflected off a Thayer defender right to the foot of Remy English '23, who took a beautiful shot from outside the 18 to score for the Lions. St. Mark's weathered the storm of Thayer's offensive attacks in the second half, led by Riley Schumacher '22, who made 11 saves and was phenomenal in the match. The Lions pulled off a major upset, winning the game 1-0.

NEW: Highlights:
JV boys' soccer, 1-1 tie with Thayer
Varsity girls' soccer, 1-0 win over Thayer
