On the 11th hour, on the 11th day of the 11th month and for evermore. They gave their lives so that we could live ours and we have so much to be grateful for.
Flood Recovery Work at Killiney Beach Park started on Nov.1st and is expected to continue for at least another week. During this time the recovery effort is focused on the parking area and access road (picture courtesy of Wayne Carson). Crews will be returning in early Spring to pave the access road, rebuild the dock and repair the boat launch. All works in Killiney Beach Park are expected to be complete by the 2019 May long weekend. The Fintry access boat launch restoration is expected to start and be completed in June 2019.

The NWCA Parks Committee will soon be meeting with RDCO Parks staff to discuss parks projects for the 2019 budget. We are looking for a few community members who are interested in being part of the parks committee. You are expected to attend meetings with the NWCA parks committee for planning as well as meetings with RDCO staff. If you are interested please reply to this newsletter email or send me an email vp@nwcaonline.ca . Alternatively, if you do not wish to be part of the committee, we would appreciate any input you have concerning our parks - tell us what you want!

The NWCA Board of Directors extends a heartfelt thank you to everyone who continues to support us and the North Westside Community . The Halloween Howler was a huge success and raised $500 for the Visit with Santa thanks to you and NWCA directors, Jessica & Jennie and a team of community volunteers - Sonja, Tanaya, Chris & Ryan, just to name a few.

I would also like to thank Darwyn Watson ($40) and Jim Hicks ($20) who, when I was out selling tickets, gave a cash donation to support the NWCA even though they were unable to attend the event and to the Killiney Beach Seniors ($50). Many thanks to NWCA directors Chris & Candace Campbell for donating the proceeds ($250) of their awesome Annual Haunted House. We are already looking forward to next year!

Bob & Johane Andrews - thank you just doesn’t seem enough for the many years of volunteer service you have given to our community. Your parting gift of $130 from the proceeds of your garage sale is very much appreciated. We wish you all the best in your new home in Nova Scotia. You are missed - have a good life!
