Dear Friends,

One of the life-changing experiences I had the pleasure of sharing with St. Bart’s parishioners was the pilgrimage to the Holy Land in the Spring of 2019. It was an extraordinary opportunity which profoundly impacted all our lives. There is something powerful about walking in the footsteps of Jesus and sharing the experience with others who are a part of, as Presiding Bishop Michael Curry calls us, the “Jesus Movement.”

I want to let you all know that St. Bart’s will be sponsoring the next pilgrimage to the Holy Land in May, 2023. Our journey will take us to Jerusalem, Jericho, the Jordan River, Bethlehem, and so many of the other places that many of us have seen only in our imaginations.

This journey is, at its heart, a spiritual pilgrimage. There will be times of prayer and reflection as we share the journey together. I will be leading many of the meditations which form the “retreat” component of the trip and our local guide, Canon Iyad Qumri, will share his decades of knowledge of the Holy Land and will help us navigate the countryside. We will worship, pray, eat, and fellowship together as a community.

I invite you to join us and I encourage you to visit stbarts.org/holyland2023 to find out more of the details of this transformational trip. Please contact our pilgrimage coordinator, Liz Gillespie, if you have any questions or would like to “sign-up.” Liz can be reached at HolyLand2023@stbarts.org.

Grace and Peace,
The Right Reverend Dean E. Wolfe
Rector
