Known and Loved by God
“My sheep hear my voice; I know them, and they follow me” (John 10:27). This fourth Sunday of Easter, Jesus states the qualities of those that follow him. The act of listening with a receptive heart bears the gift to let ourselves be loved by God and set aside pride on the spiritual journey. How does Jesus invite me to new ways of listening? In what ways has God spoken to me this week that surprises me and calls me to new modes of relationship?

In his Address to Young People in Manila, Pope Francis writes, True love is both loving and letting oneself be loved. It is harder to let ourselves be loved than it is to love. That is why it is so hard to achieve the perfect love of God, because we can love him but the important thing is to let ourselves be loved by him. True love is being open to that love which was there first and catches us by surprise. If all you have is information, you are closed to surprises. Love makes you open to surprises. Love is always a surprise, because it starts with a dialogue between two persons: the one who loves and the one who is loved” (Address to Young People in Manila, 2015).

As we seek to listen to God’s voice during this Easter season, let us pray for the gift of receptivity to God’s tenderness, care, and embrace.

Happy Mother's Day
The Department for Pastoral Ministries wishes all mothers a blessed mother's day this Sunday, May 8. Mother’s Day is a wonderful opportunity to highlight the beautiful vocation of motherhood and the gift of life. It calls us to cherish the gift of life that we receive from our mothers and to pray for all women to whom God has entrusted life in a very special way. As we pray in thanksgiving for the gift of all mothers, we also specifically remember mothers experiencing difficult pregnancies and pray they may find support and encouragement in choosing life for their children. We also remember the Mother of God on this special celebration of mothers. Click here to create a spiritual bouquet for our Blessed Mother at home.

Conocido y Amado por Dios
“Mis ovejas escuchan mi voz; yo las conozco y ellas me siguen.” (Juan 10:27).
