Mayor Ann Lawlor's Inaugural Address
Good evening, everyone. It is a great honour to be standing here today and speaking to you in my new role as Mayor of the Town of Halton Hills.
Today, we have gathered; our new Town Councillors, cherished family members, friends, election supporters, and special platform guests.
Thank you all for coming to this inauguration – this very special event that is historically ceremonial and politically significant.

Happy Holidays and Warm Wishes for 2023
The Town of Halton Hills’ administrative offices will be closed at noon on Friday, December 23, 2022, and will reopen on Monday, January 2, 2023.
Town Prepares for Winter Control
In anticipation of the cold weather season, municipal staff has been busy preparing for snow with vehicle testing, employee training, and stockpiling salt and sand to maintain roads and sidewalks.
Throughout the year, the Town reports on the electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at the following parking lot locations: Edith St., Georgetown Fairgrounds, Dominion Gardens, Halton Hills Fire Dept. Headquarters, R.C. Austin Operations Centre, Willow St., and Town Hall.
To date, 262 electric charging sessions have been reported, with charger use up by 8% from the previous quarter. This amounts to a total savings of 2,289 kg of CO2 and 976 litres of gas.

The Canada Greener Homes Initiative
The Canada Greener Homes Initiative provides grants and a loan for home evaluations and for retrofits. The eligible retrofits include home insulation, windows and doors, air sealing, and mechanical and renewable energy systems.
This Government of Canada program aims to help Canadians make where they live more energy efficient. The Canada Greener Homes Initiative will help homeowners save money, create new jobs across Canada for energy advisors, and fight climate change.
Residents should read all the eligibility criteria and initiative requirements to be sure they qualify for the grants and/or the loan at the end of the process. Residents must undertake both a pre-and post-retrofit EnerGuide evaluation to be eligible.

Town Hall Low Carbon Improvements
Approved by Council in 2020, recommendations from the Town Hall’s Low Carbon Design Brief will begin in the new year.
Improvements include replacing the direct gas fired air unit with an electric unit and replacing existing heat pumps. The improvements will reconfigure the HVAC system to be ready for a future geothermal system.
This new approach to facilities planning coordinates the timeline of scheduled capital upgrades and reduces greenhouse gas emissions to support the Town’s energy and carbon reduction targets.
